Readers CD contributions

U Amiga Magazine's CUCD cover CDs have met with universal acclaim and have even spawned imitators. Now we're calling on you, the reader, to help us compile the next bigger and better CUCD, the CD to end all CDs. Doing so will put you in the running to win some excellent prizes as well as having your work immortalised in the World's most widely distributed Amiga CD. The categories are as follows;

Graphics artwork

Pictures should be left unarchived. IFF's, JPGs, GIFs and PNGs accepted. Please use the correct extension for each filetype.

Audio Module compositions

Modules should also be left unarchived. Please note that the filename must be name.MOD and not MOD.name.

Utilities and applications and other binaries should, of course, be archived and you may use either LHA or LZX to archive your material.

Games

Games should also be archived. It's possible we may want to include any games unarchived in the Games section of the CD also. If you object to this, say so in the .nfp file. Special instructions on making the game run straight from the CD would be appreciated.

How to get your material to CU Amiga

There's 3 main ways detailed as follows:

Snail mail
The good old post office might be slow compared to E-mail but it's reliable and easy to use. Please place your work on an Amiga formatted disk and post to the following address:

E-mail
You can MIME encode your work via E-mail. Please ensure that you MIME your archive with a MIME compliant mailer such as MetaTool, Thor or Voodoo. Send your mail to the following E-mail address:

FTP
Lastly, you can FTP your archive to CU Amiga's own FTP site. This feature has just been implemented, if it doesn't work you may need to fall back to the previous two methods. Make sure uploads go the following FTP path:

It's important to note what format we require the submitted work in. Please try and adhere to this format as closely as possible otherwise we'll have to reorganise the material ourselves and it's possible, due to time constraints, that the material then wont make it onto the CD.
Just the work alone wont do. We need to know how the material was created, what was used to create it and, of course, your address. At the least you must supply an E-mail address so we can get in contact regarding prizes and such forth. This text file must go by the same name as the archive/module/picture but instead have an extension of .txt and if there's any special instructions for your work such as details of your address which you do NOT want included on the CD, send in another text file by the same name but with an .nfp (Not For Publication) extension.

To summarise

Supposing you wanted to send a render called Klingon.jpg. You would send in this file accompanied by a text file detailing how and with what Amiga equipment you produced the render. This would be sent in as Klingon.txt. If you wish, you could send in another text file called Klingon.nfp which pertains to specific instructions for the file which are not to be included on the CD. Mostly this might be your real snail-mail address to send a prize to etc. Only necessary if you don't have E-mail or don't want to include your E-mail address in the .txt file.
Note: CU Amiga Magazine publishes a cover mounted CD roughly every quarter. Our policy is to provide a full top quality CD when enough material has been collected. The CD issue is published in conjunction with a floppy disk version of the magazine so that a choice can be made between the CD or floppy edition. Subscribers get both the CD and floppy disks each month.
