General information

AmiWin is an X11R6 ("X-Window-System") package for AmigaOS. It is in some ways similar to "DaggeX" by Kari Mattinen or the "GfxBase-X11R4" implementation by Dale Luck.

AmiWin allows you to use your Amiga as an X11 terminal. This means you can for example run programs like NetScape on a Un*x machine connected to your Amiga, but redirect the display and GUI to your Amiga. It is also possible to port X11 programs to AmiWin and run them directly on your Amiga.

AmiWin is shareware. Here is a list of features of both the demo and registered version of AmiWin.

To registered users, a developer package is available for SAS/C (and soon for other compilers). Here is a list of clients that users have ported to AmiWin.

Newsflash

The registered AmiWin version is now available on ZIP cartridge. You need to get a copy of the latest registration form for this.

It is now possible to register for AmiWin over the Internet using a First Virtual account. Please check out First Virtual for more information on their services.

If you would like to register this way, please open your own First Virtual buyer's account first, then get the latest version of the AmiWin registration form.

Fill it out, send it back to me by email, and I'll initiate the First Virtual transaction for you. All you have to do after that is confirm the transaction request First Virtual will send you by email.

Version information

The current version is 2.22. To obtain the demo version, just download the archive "AmiWin222d.lha" from Aminet.

If you register AmiWin now you will receive 2.22r. If you registered earlier you might have received 2.12r. In this case you need to download the patch to 2.22r (and the SAS/C developer kit, if you like).
