Hiya. Just a quick release of PlayFKiss. Some notes: Very buggy. You are warned. Missing some features. Lots of stuff (prefs, mainly), are missing. Needs a QUICK CPU with FAST memory. Unlike PlayKiSS, PlayFKiss goes the chunky->planar method. This means lots less CHIP memory is required, but moving cels/objs can take 2-20x longer! I suggest getting the writepixelarray hack from Aminet:util/boot/PatchWPA8.lha Graphics board users should experience much faster times. (let me know) If someone can give me source for a chunky->planar method to write directly to a screen, gimme! gimme! gimme! Now for the *good* news; PlayFKiss requires: OS 3.x MUI 3.x FAST memory '030 STRONGLY recommended .wav datatype recommended PlayFKiss supports: GS/4 file format support GS/4 standards 1000 objs and 1000 cels Unfixing/reseting of objects. Robust .cnf parser with GUI interface to view cels. All known FKiss commands as of WKiss 0.65e **: alarm(), timer(), unfix(), set(), catch(), press(), fixcatch(), release(), drop(), map(), unmap(), altmap(), sound(), move(), begin(), end() ** There have been several more commands added to the Japanese version of WKiss. But I don't know the exact names, nor what they do. There is NO way for me to get ahold of WKiss from Japan. Japanese are very selfish and protective when it comes to foreign countires. :P Well, I'll keep working on the missing parts. And I'll try to add more editing features. Until then, PLEASE let me know what you think. Email me at: crandall@msen.com Chad Randall January 21, 1996 btw, PlayFKiss is released as PUBLIC DOMAIN. Usage is unlimited and unguaranteed About KISS, aka Kisekae KISS started life a few years ago in Japan. At first it only allowed 16 color cels, a small view area, and few objects. Since then, it's gained many features. The current *standard* calls for 768x480 area, 256 colors, and 512 cels. The proposed FKiss standard calls for over 1000 cels. There are many KISS data sets available. (I have over 160). But the distribution status of many of these is currently being hottly debated. So far, it is legal and morally correct to download these sets from thier ORIGINAL location on the Internet. Redistributing these, even for non-profit means, is illegal according to a Japanese man closely tied to many of the authors. You should not be put off. Downloading sets from the ftp/web sites is still considered OK. Here are a few to get you started: ftp.netcom.com/pub/mu/mughi/Kiss venice.tcp.com/pub/anime-manga .??
