Since the subject appeared quite a few times in The Lair, many of you will probably know about the problems I have had with my Amiga. This finally came to a head sometime during the summer. I have officially gone over to The Dark Side™, though my defection was rather forced upon me. Thus, I feel it would be grossly hypocritical to continue in my current position. It`s a bit like writing for a yachting magazine while living in the Sahara - sure, they might have those nifty land-yachts, but it`s a whole different kettle of fish. I spoke to Erik about this, and there`s no way he could do The Lair without me. This is, I hasten to add, not because of my brilliant organisational skills(!), but because he`s in an exam year ¹ So, we`ve got a situation here. Am I to let the Lair die, and allow it to follow CU? Or do I hold out, waiting for a new editor to take on the mantle? We`re in limbo at the moment. The Amiga is dead. Make no bones about it. Our deus ex machina, the OS5 consumer box, is months away. The number of players in the worldwide Amiga magazine market has just dropped to one. So, is there much to write about it? Maybe. It just depends on your fire and vision. Oh, and having an Amiga to hand might help. Mail me at D2282118@infotrade.co.uk if you feel you can have a stab at the Lair. If there are no satisfactory candidates, the Lair will die. Maybe we can have a wake on IRC :-) If anyone does take up the role, I`ll help them in anyway possible, esp. HTML and design. I also have a review of Amiga Forever 2.0 which is waiting for them. This review will go up regardless, because I don`t feel it would be right to just take a review copy without fulfilling the designated purpose. I`d like to thank all those that have helped - you know who you are. I`d also like to apologise if you think I`ve let you down. I`ll keep an eye on the Amiga community. Maybe, if I get a job, I`ll be back for the OS5 box. Here`s hoping. ¹ i`m also in an exam year, but don`t worry bout that :-)
