Formation is a powerful file and directory grouping utility. Using the simple GUI, it is possible to link items by theme from any number of different storage locations and arrange them into a 'virtual directory' or Group. These Groups can be accessed
using an file manager style lister and appear to the user in the style of conventional directories. File lists from directories stored on removeable media (cd-rom, floppy etc) can be cached hard-disk to reduce disk swapping when browsing.
Grouping is made even easier by virtue of the Formation Search engine. Current search filters are text string, filetype and date. Results can be copied to a Group, saved to disk, or archived.
Finally, Formation has a powerful file type recognition system. Multiple actions can be configured by the user to suit each type.
