A day in a town in middle of nowhere....

* Spaz` snores
* Jett sulks around in her room.
* Joe` stands on deck, thinking
* Barbie wanders up deck, strolling around, enjoying the wind in her fur...
* Joe` nods. "Hello Barbie. How are you today?"
* Spaz` finally gets up, and trudges over to the other side of his room, working on the 
dress.
* Barbie wanders over to Joe, sniffing at his legs, sitting down besides him, looking 
at the sea...
* Joe` scratches the panther behind the ear in her itchy spots.
* Barbie purrs softly
Joe` "Are you coming along Barbie? If so, you should stay in the edge of the woods 
and not come into town. You will attract TOO much attention. In either form."
* `Avery sits on the edge of the ship, waiting.
`Avery "Ready Joe?"
* Jett saunters up to the deck. "You guys all set to go?"
* Spaz` curses as the needle stabs into his finger again.
* Joe` nods.
* Barbie lays down flat on the deck, rubbing at the wood, her collar makes scratching 
noises, then she lays still there, looking again at the sea...
Joe` "Yup. Ready to move out. You guys make sure to pay close attention on the 
radio. this is REAL dangerous."
* Jett frowns. "You sure you don't want some backup?"
* Joe` lowers the longboat into the water and climbs in.
* `Avery follows
* Barbie looks at Joe and Ave as they sit down in the longboat...
Joe` "This is one of those situations where a couple of people are sneakier than a 
bunch. I'm not too sure even Avery should come along."
* `Avery follows
* Joe` gives Barbie a final scratch underneath her collar and shoves off.
* Jett nods. "Good luck, then."
Joe` "Remember, you guys put the Comm on speaker mode so we can hear all of 
you and you all can hear us."
* Spaz` knocks on katie's door, looking up and down the hall, needle in one hand, 
thread in the other, and a large piling of fabric in his arms.
* Katie answers the door in something sheer and frilly enough it's hard to be sure  it's 
white "Hm?" she says
Spaz` "Katie?"
Jett "Well, mine is always on. No speaker mode, but...we'll stick together in case we 
have to move out quickly."
Spaz` "Oh hey.  You got any lace?"
Spaz` "I uh...I forgot to pack any of mine, cept for this one dress...well, I need lace."
* Barbie shifts partly, turning towards Jett, "Frequency? comm mode?"
KatieGM "oh! Sure! I got shitloads... you can tear my clothes up ANYTIME, silly..."
* Joe` lands the longboat on the beach and pulls it up on shore.
* Jett taps her head. "Subvocal. The whole thing."
Joe` "You ready Ave? I'd say its about 4 miles to the town."
Joe` Comm: "Well, somebody patch the blasted thing into the ships speakers."
Barbie "Noo, what is he using, battletac or normal stuff?"
Jett Comm: "No datajack here. It's a no can do."
Jett Comm: "I don't need any more holes in my head."
Jett "Oh. We're trying to figure that out now."
Jett Comm: "Battletac sys, Joe?"
`Avery "Ready as I'll ever be."
Joe` Comm: "No, its one of Silences super-radios. Just tune Minervas speakers to 
Frequency ."
Spaz` "Um.."
KatieGM Katie starts tearing through drawers, tossing out most anything with lace in 
it onto the bed... there's lots, ranging from stuff with lace trim, to things that are 
mostly lace... quality varies widely too
* Spaz` starts sifting through the clothes, picking out the things with the best lace, 
and the most, and lays them out, tossing the other stuff on the floor.
* Spaz` looks at the long lace dress and a piece of lingere, and picks them up.
Spaz` "What looks better?  The rose pattern...or the kinda...I guess that's a bird."
KatieGM Katie giggles "On me or on you?"
* Joe` arranges such before he leaves the ship. You all can hear us. We can hear 
you.
Spaz` "Neither.  This is for Jett."
Joe` "Ready Ave? Lets go!"
* Joe` starts hiking along the beach, toward the settlement.
Barbie "Jett, give me the ferquency and the code I can like myself in"
Joe` Comm: "Hey Arianna, you wherent up at noon. I win the rematch by default you 
know?"
* Jett gives Barbie the code.
Spaz` "I wanna show her how pretty she is...and well...I'm not good at style.  At least 
not at this. Not enough to trust myself."
Spaz` "And besides, you guys are girls, so I might be able to make you try it on to 
make sure I didn't sew a sleeve shut."
* Barbie shifts back and links herself to the battletac.
KatieGM "Whatcha WANT it for, Spazster?"
Joe` ((It is currently 3:30pm. From noon until 3pm, Spaz was helping Joe and Avery 
make appropriate costumes for the 17th century.))
Spaz` "I want the lace to cut up and sew it to this dress."
* Barbie strolls over to some sunny place, laying down again, looking around, bat-
hing in the sun...
* Spaz` lays it out, the bottom half and the sleeves finished already, though the back 
and the front are currently missing.
* Jett lays on her bed, reading a book and waiting for a report.
* Joe` is on the beach.
Joe` Avery is on the beach.
Spaz` "And once she's wearing it, and everyone looks at her, I will say to her..."
* Spaz` closes his eyes, and holds his arms crossed over his chest, a slight smile on 
his face.
Spaz` "Siete la ragazza pił bella nel mondo e gli uomini cadranno ai vostri piedi, 
crying a che cosa non possono avere."
Joe` "Barbie, what you CAN do, if you want, is hide outside of town in the edge of 
the woods. In your panther form. Just dont go too far inland, I think if you do that, it 
will lead you back to the core with no way to get back HERE."
Spaz` "But that's neither here nor there.  Thanks for the lace."
KatieGM "You guys ever do dis kinda t'ing before?" JoJo says doubtfully
* Spaz` looks slightly embarrassed, as he's said too much, and grabs the long lace 
dress and rushes out of the room with all his stuff.
KatieGM "Spaz! C'mon t'shor with us!"
Joe` Time: When they are getting ready and such. "Hey Arianna, you know I win the 
rematch by forfeit dont you? I was up and about at noon, and you where still asleep." 

Spaz` "I uh...Joe and Ave are already going.  I have a lot of sewing to do."
* Spaz` bows low, and back out to his room.
Spaz` "Besides, I've embarrassed myself enough for one day."
KatieGM "Spaz!" Katie grumbles and scampers after him
* Spaz` sets the dress back up on the dress form, taking the scissors to the lace 
dress.
KatieGM JoJo repeats to Avery and Joe:"Um... you guys... dis kinda t'ing got tactics 
t'it, y'know... ways t'minimize de danger of discovery an' all dat..."
* Jett checks the sash around her waist and primps her head of curls.
* Spaz` hangs the long bit of lace, doubled up, to the front.
Arianna` Joe:  "I don't think so!  I had no idea I was gonna get married last night 
when we set the time for the rematch"
Joe` "Well, what do you suggest JoJo? I really have no idea how to lead this type of 
thing. Not my training, y'know?"
Joe` Ari: "Ah, but you didnt say so. If you ask nicely, I may let you postpone the 
match until tommorrow. But I demand my prize now." 
KatieGM JoJo:"Yah, well, I an' I done it QUITE often... no-wheres close t'as weirt as 
DIS, but... Lotsa towns don' like Pirate slippin' in, neh?""
`Avery "What would you suggest, I'm not planning on just walking up to them and 
say 'hoi' "
Arianna` Joe"    "you're not getting ANYTHING from me THAT 
way"
Joe` "Well then, I appoint you leader of the away team JoJo. What do you suggest?"
* Barbie strolls over to some sunny place, laying down again, looking around, bat-
hing in the sun...
KatieGM JoJo:"Yes'n no... not jus' ANYBODY, but... sailors... 'specially de sorts dat 
don' like questions asked OF  'em, don' tend t'ask as many dey OWNselves, neh? 
We always had two crew go in... one, dey go find a likely bar to listen for gossip at, 
d'other, dey stay outta town but close 'nuff t'make a difference de drek hit de fan."
`Avery "Right, I didn't want a whole mess of people heading into town."
`Avery "Just enough to get our goals accomplished."
* Joe` laughs and says to Arianna: "Very well, but when I win our match tommorrow, 
I SHALL have my kiss." ;]
* Barbie strolls around to find JoJo...
Joe` JoJo: "Sounds excellent JoJo. Who do you recommend for the two people to go 
into town?"
Jett "A woman, definitely. If push comes to shove, we can have someone seduce a 
sailor to get some info."
`Avery "Then I'd nominate miss grande' seductress over here, where is she?"
Arianna` Joe:  "you won't win"
* JoJo_GM laughs... "Dat not a bad idea, Jett-lass, but, um... would you? I don' 
wanna sound... rude or notin', but... you um. Don' seem real... forward.""
* Barbie strolls up to JoJo, rubbing gently agains his legs, purring...
Joe` "Katie, you should go in cat form. I dont remember seeing any chinese in this 
town. You might give us away."
* Jett smirks. "I wasn't suggesting me. I've done it before, but..." *shrugs*
* KatieGM bites her lip a little and snugz Ari
`Avery "Barbie hun, do me a favor and get to where you can talk to us."

* Spaz` looks over the first draft of the dress, and chews his lip.
Arianna` ((wait a minute.  I thought Katie and Ari were in their cabin?))Jett "I mean, 
Joe could tell you about the time I picked up an ork in a bar, seduced him, then lured 
him into an alley where some teammates pulled guns on him and knocked him out."
* Barbie shifts...

* `Avery removes his cloak and tosses it to barbie
* Barbie graps the cloak, pulling it around her body...
`Avery "Didn't mean right now, but that works. please put that on."
Spaz` (( She didn't ask.  Remember - ask Spaz *nicely*. ))
`Avery "How would you like to go and seduce a few sailor-types for us?"
`Avery "If needed of course."
Barbie "Its alright Ave, I`m just abit fuzzy from the night"

Barbie "Hmmm, do you think this would be good when I go into town? I mean if they

* Jett smirks. "Hey, may as well get someone who's willing to follow through..."
Barbie "Yes, but I`m not good at it."
`Avery "Your better than I am, that should be more than enough."
JoJo_GM "I an' I don' know how commmen d'Nitiates be, here.... Dey ain' too 
common in d'Sixth world, eh?"
Barbie "Hope so and as what should I go then? and I need clothes, mine are 
definetly not the right ones for here"
Joe` Noon. Said to everyone: "Okay guys, I figure we need to do a scouting trip into 
that town. Who all wants to go?"
* Barbie seems to be uncomfartable standing barefooted on her toes, tipping from 
one foot to the other...
* Joe` is going into town dressed up. ((If you are going into town, please type "/me is 
going into town". :P))
JoJo_GM "Well... only folks  who're good wit' people should go in... say, two t'four 
people, wit' at least th'same in reserve."
* Jett is going into town.
`Avery "So that many seen, and the others in the woods?"
Barbie "May I point out that I have realy problems walking in non high heels, but if I 
could wear them i can go"
Jett "I don't care. I'll go into town, I'll skulk around in the woods, or I'll stay on the 
flippin' boat. But someone let me know."
`Avery "Alright, Jojo, its given that your going, and I guess barbie would cause way 
too much attention. I'd like to go if its acceptable."
* JoJo_GM laughs "Well, heels be less problem in de town, less'n... Joe, ye say de 
town be ol'fashioned? Dey got cobblestone streets?"
Arianna` "I'm staying with Katie"
Barbie "Err...JoJo what do you mean?"
KatieGM "I can sneak, but I  don' know how t'ACT 'round PEOPLE!" Katie says as 
she clings to Ari
* JoJo_GM laughs again "Barbie-luv, have y'ever SEEN somebody try to walk on 
COBBLESTONES with high heels?"
Joe` "Okay JoJo. You are the leader. Will you please assign who is to go into town, 
who is to stay outside town in reserve, and who is to stay aboard the ship?"
`Avery "I think thats more of an individual choice Joe. You've seen the place, what 
do you think."
Jett "I have sensible shoes."
Barbie "Sure, I walk with them everywhere, I can`t walk without them more then a 
few meters without pain."
* JoJo_GM thinks, counting off names... "Barbie, me, Av'ry, Joe, Katie, Arianna, 
Sharra, Cheshire, Jett, Vixen, Spaz... dat everyone?"
Joe` "I think Barbie should stay aboard the ship in case of an emergency. I think 
JoJo and Avery should go INTO town. Ari, Katie, and I will stay outside of town in 
case anything goes wrong."
Joe` "Yes, it is Spaz."
JoJo_GM "Barbie-Hon... cobblestones... NOT ggod. But if they got 'em, better y'NOT 
be havin' t'run... hm"
JoJo_GM "De comment 'bout seduction was a good'n, though. And, um..."
Jett "I still think that a woman should go into town. Ari and Katie absolutely won't split 
up. My street et leaves something to be desired. Barbie'a aura is fucked. Spaz looks 
decent in a dress, but I doubt he'll go for it."
Barbie "JoJo, please try not to speak with your accent, Its realy hard to understand 
fow me. I don`t understand you at all atm."
JoJo_GM "Barbie's aura's fucked, but she mask it, neh? Joe, you d'mojo-mon, how 
good her masking be, compared t'average?"
`Avery "I can penetrate it without much work, but then again I'm not average."
* JoJo_GM winces "I an'... sigh I'll TRY, Barbie-Luv. It gets 's... especially.. thick, 
when I think... like a pirate."
Joe` "Its pretty darn good JoJo. But she looks pretty strange for the 17th century. No 
offense intended Barbie."
JoJo_GM "So, compare to average, how good is it?"
Barbie "No taken joe, I know this myself"
Joe` JoJo: "Above Average."
* JoJo_GM laughs... "Okay, here's how I see it. And Barbie, Jett, be honest. The 
lady's right about seduction being the best way to get information without a fuss. 
BUT... thing is, most talk slips AFTER sex, Jett. I'm worried about Barbie's heels, but 
I'm worried about you havin' t'do somethin' y'don' want, too.  Same quest

know, in this crew, I most likely'll have to if it's a lady needs seducing, so I ain' sayin

`Avery "I've known my share, not that I didn't hate every last minute I wast here."
* Jett gives Jojo a smile that hints at a sadistic streak. "I can fast-talk pretty well, 
though."
Barbie "Don`t worry about my heels, I walked with them everywhere, I was only 
worried that they would be to fast noticed to not belonging here."
Joe` "I think one thing that would be remarkably useful, if we can find one, would be 
a newspaper. I dont know if a settlement this size would have one or not yet. Most 
young settlements didnt have newspapers until they where more developed."
JoJo_GM "Joe? Av'ry? Be honest... it ain' y'r fighten I need t'know 'bout, it's how well 
y'deal with....  well, people like me, but not so nice"
JoJo_GM "Honey...."  JoJo's eyes drink in Barbie from head to toe "Hon, I can 
GUARENTEE, that nothin' remotely ALIVE  is gonna NOTICE what y'r WALKIN' on."
`Avery "Like I've said, I've had my share to deal with.  You learn to after a while in 
the shadier side of life."
Joe` "I've spent enough time with my brother to get a little feel for dock culture. And 
most people dont expect much interaction out of a troll other than lifting heavy stuff. 
I'm sure I can manage."
* Barbie giggles
JoJo_GM "Hm... dat make four goin' in, four on de boat, and 3 on backup... Don' 
QUITE like de numbers... hm..."
Arianna` "I don't have much experience with 'dives and back alleys', as you put it"
Joe` "Cheshire?"
JoJo_GM "okay, Ave, you'n Joe will make ONE team goin' in, Barbie'n I'll make 
another... dat way, if'n ONE pair get trouble, dere be FIVE folks t'bail 'em out. Sound 
Chill?"
JoJo_GM "Chesh... oh. Dom."

`Avery "fine wit' me maan."
* Joe` smiles. "Thats a plan."
* Jett shrugs. "Fine with me."
JoJo_GM "You said he wa' goin' 'long t'shift folk... I'd REALLY feel better he stay 
here t'keep'n eye on dat pretty li'l Sharra... dose Kuro-I were AFTER us, wan' some 
magic here on d'boat, an' Vix is still hurtin'. Spaz for if d'bastards try muscle, since 
dey magic fail..."
* Jett snorts. "I was muscle before I was magic."
Joe` "Very good then. Cheshire shall remain here."
JoJo_GM "Dat leave Ari, Katie, an' Jett on swoop down t'save our hoops patrol... you 
ladies cool wit dat?"
* Jett scowls. "I guess since you need SOMEONE on the boat who can keep their 
hormones in check."
Arianna` "sounds good to me"
Jett "Want me to find a good spot and go guerrela?"
* Jett escapes to her room and makes a fast job of dressing for battle. The full 
magilla.
JoJo_GM Katie dresses in Jeans and T-Shirt
Barbie "Ok, I need then some matching clothes for this, I don`t think that mine are 
apropiate for this."
* Jett returns to the deck, loaded for bear: crossbow on back, preds in holsters, 
knives on thighs.
Barbie "Hmmm, whats the typical dress for a woman in this town? Would be good to 
know."
* Joe` relays this description to the ladies, he has quite a bit of detail on the 
taver-wench dresses for some strange reason.
Joe` "Er.. yeah, real tight... around the er... chest... and uh... pretty short skirts... for 
the time... and uh... really tight around the chest..."
Barbie "Good have we something that fits me and can be taken as matching dress?"
Jett "I'm noticing a pattern."
* Jett shakes her head and wonders if she's the only one here who's not perpetually 
horny.
* Joe` helps Barbie get the most matching dress he can describe. He seems oddly 
distracted... or perhaps frustrated with his task.
Barbie "Ok, now JoJo as what should I go? I mean look at me, do you notice 
something?"
* JoJo_GM blinks, confused "Y'mean, other than that you're a  goddess of beauty?"
Barbie "My neck JoJo, I doubt that most woman wear collars around the town."
Joe` "Can you take that thing off or does it have to stay on?"
Barbie "Can`t take it of"
`Avery "Why can't you take it off?"
JoJo_GM "Welllll... turn up th'collar of the cloak and the shirt... I don' wanna HAVE 
to, but if we need to, I can say you're my slave..."
Barbie "It can`t be opened, itsn`t desinged for that."
`Avery "What is it for?"
Barbie "Its an spirit foci and for things collars are for, to be chained with."
Barbie "We can do JoJo, I don`t have a prob with been your slave as long as you 
don`t have one with it."
* Jett snorts. "No offense, mon, but I think in the 1700's it was the other way around. 
You'd be the one in the collar."
Arianna` "collar?"  Ari looks at Barbie's neck.  "never noticed that before........"
Barbie "Realy Ari? Makes me wonder."
* Arianna` holds Katie even tighter
JoJo_GM "Hunh? Oh, ya... well, 'de Zulu w'big on d'east coast for while now, still...

Arianna` "all.....all I've EVER noticed before is how beautiful you are......."  she

* Jett rolls her eyes.
* Joe` looks highly embarassed (and frustrated) by the entire conversation and 
busies himself chewing a fingernail.
Barbie "Ari, np no need to feel bad or so, I chosed it myself, in fact I made it myself."
* Jett checks the string of her bow and then the quiver strapped to her leg.
Joe` "you guys ready? Everybody have their comm on?"
Jett Comm: "Of course. Like I said, do you want me to find a god spot where I can 
snipe from?"
JoJo_GM "Yep, le' us rock on' roll, neh? Ja Love!"
Jett "Or would you rather I skulk around.

Barbie "BattleTac is internal, I`m online"

Arianna` "I lost my comm on the dock"
`Avery "Lets go."
Joe` Jett: "Dont snipe anybody unless something bad happens. Matter of fact, dont 
kill ANYONE if you can help it."
* JoJo_GM gives the ladies who want it a hand down into the boat
* Spaz` is happily sewing in his room.
Jett "Oh, yeah, killing the locals isn't a good way to endear yourself. But if you come 
running out of that town with a crew of the locals on your ass, a hidden sniper can 
even the odds."
Barbie "True Jett, but I think this was not the thing joe meaned."
* Joe` nods and starts rowing for shore.
* KatieGM arranges to sit next to Barbie on the boat ride to shore...
* Jett shrugs. "Well, then I'll just wander around, keep low."
JoJo_GM "Let's get as close t'de city wit' de boat's we can... de better an' quicker 
t'get away, neh?"
Jett "Want I should set out some watchers?"
* Arianna` makes sure to sit on the other side of Katie
Barbie "Around your hiding post, but not to much further way I would say if any at 
all."
Joe` "They would attract too much attention in town. But if you want to have them 
around as magical tripwires so nobody sneaks up on you, feel free."
Joe` "Just remember, there are magically active people in this town. Not TOO many, 
but they are there.
* Jett sighs. "Good enough. Then I may as well find myself a blind I can see the 
beach from and stay. Should the lookout team stay together, or spread out?"
* KatieGM whispers to Barbie
Joe` "I would hide out in the jungle at the edge of town and hunker down to keep an 
eye on it.
Barbie "Spread out a bit so that in need they can rush in better."
* Barbie whispers back to Katie
Arianna` "we need to be close to the town in case something happens.  does anyone 
have a comm I can borrow?"
* Jett hehs. "Not unless you want to yank it out of my skull."
Arianna` "I'll pass, Jett.  I don't think I can use cyber anyway.  at least, not what I 
don't already have"
* Joe` gives Arianna one of the extra comms.
Arianna` "thanks Joe"
KatieGM "you DO!?!!?"
Joe` "No problem babe. I'm going to whoop you tommorrow when we duel." 
* Barbie nods
* Jett raises an eyebrow at Katie.
* KatieGM looks around, embarassed "er... oops... sorry..."
* KatieGM goes back to whispering
Arianna` "I'm not gonna say it again Joe.  you're gonna lose"  
Arianna` "and don't call me 'babe' "
* Jett rolls her eyes again.
* Joe` starts rowing the boat mightily as they near shore.
* KatieGM looks thoughtful
Joe` "You guys make sure to keep an eye on the boat. Anybody wandering by is 
going to wonder what an outboard motor is."

*KatieGM* "Hey, Barbie... why'd'ya WANT a collar?"

JoJo_GM You beach the boat in a small inlet, hidden by a particularily dense clump 
of accacia and thorns, but a small game trail winds up from the small stream that 
splashes down from the arid inland
* Jett frowns. "GREAT place to hide...if I'd known I was gonna be crawling around in 
thorns, I would have worn chaps."
Joe` "We're off guys. Hunker down, keep your comms on, and keep a careful watch."
Arianna` "I'm gonna wait closer to town, so I can get to you faster if something 
happens"
KatieGM Katie's eyes are wide, and her nose flares, sniffing the air

you go, the more modern it gets. Just a theory though. Lets go find out."
`Avery "Well, hell. If we do our best and look primitive maybe they'll think we're not

`Avery "The further we get in land, the more we have a chance of getting sucked 
back home, or wherever."
* Jett hmms. "How far back do crossbows go, anyway? That's, like, medieval 
periods, right?"
Arianna` "if this is the dreamworld, shouldn't we be ready for ANYTHING?  like 
lasers and stuff?"
`Avery "That size? Those are pretty modern."
Barbie "Around 1200-1300 iirc."
* Jett nods. "That's what my Nagual said. She also said that if we stay in one place, 
we're more likely to be shifted back."
`Avery "It'd be cool to pick up a lightsabre, always watned one of those."

Jett "Oh, yeah, I know. These buggers are top of the line. But I know there were 
more primitive versions."

JoJo_GM "Well, let's hustle den'" grins JoJo, scowling at the thorns
* Jett scuffs around, looking for a decent place to lay low.

JoJo_GM The further inland, the more the rough, scrubby land grows taller plants, by 
a mile inland, it's actual brushland, and you can mover without fear of long-distance 
sighting...
Jett "Just let me know where you want me to set up shop, kids."
* KatieGM swings her hand happily in Ari's, but her keen nose snif-sniff-sniff's the 
wind, and her eyes are HUGEly open
* Barbie looks around like scanning the area intesvily...
* Arianna` is assensing the entire time, watching everything, including behind us
* `Avery makes his way, a foot or two ahead of Joe, looking important.
* Joe` shifts his facial expression to 'I'm just a stupid trog' mode.

* Barbie follows joJo, looking not as like a leader type..

* JoJo_GM walks warily, eyes sharp, shivering a little as his eyes light on Barbie but 
paying close attention. After about 20 minutes of walking from the shore, you hit a 
road, and can see the city along it.
Barbie "We want to split here?"
* Joe` looks at the road. ((Dirt? concrete? cobbles?))
`Avery "Sounds like it."

Joe` "Yes. Be very careful guys. Avery and I are going to snoop about and see what 
we can see."
* Jett nods. "I'm not dressed to mingle, and I THINK the locals might object to my 
toys."
* Arianna` slips off to the opposite side Jett's on, staying close to the road, still 
holding Katie's hand
Joe` "Barbie, thank you for doing what you are going to do for the team."
Arianna` "good luck, guys"
* Jett mutters, "Are you SURE you guys can keep your hands off each other and 
your mind on business? It's hard to fight with your pants around your ankles."
Barbie "Joe, we are all here to get back, and when thats the only thing I can do to

seem primarily a WIDE mix of 17th century types from ALL nations, hawkers yelling 
or singing from stalls near the docks, boisterous sailors... Barbie gets a LOT of 
stares, but only a few are hostile, and that mostly from women whose men are
salivating too obviously. JoJo opens his vest enough so that his knife sheathe shows 
a little...
* Barbie` looks around, smiling shyly, keeping close to JoJo.
* `Joseph ponders the disdain. He had figured trolls would be a fairly common sight 
on the docks.
* `Joseph looks around for a newspaper vendor. He surveys the stalls he passes, 
looking at merchandise, etc.
* `Joseph looks around for anything not era-appropriate.
* Avery` always keeps the attitude of owner of said troll.
* Jett settles against a tree, bow in her lap, resting.
* `Joseph eavesdrops, catching snippets of conversation here and there.

hard-sore afternoon drinkers isn't missing a noticable portion of their anatomy in one 
way or another.... the bartender's left eyes is a dull black withered orb, and his teeth 
and part of his jaw are missing, replaced with carved Ivory. Every pair of eyes in the 
place RIVITS  on JoJo and Barbie as the enter...

 Inside the tiny, ramshackle fortune-teller's shop, the place looks a lot 
like the inside of Sam's van: bundles of plants and less identifiable things hang from 
walls and ceiling, and books, scrolls, and fragments of paper are inside bubbly-glass 
counters, behind netting in other dispaly cases, small pots, knives, and 
 boxes are piled. None of them have labels, and a bead curtain 
seperates off a back area. A young blonde woman wearing a dress about 3 sizes too 
small sits behind the till doing her nails with a kris

* IlyanaGM holds it up to the dim light filtering into the shop and squints, then sniffs 
it, finally sticking JUST the tip of her tongue out to sniff it. With a sharp nod, she 
gathers it together and drops itinto her cleavage. "Well then, M'Boyo, you have a 
LOT of... credit... with me, aye?" She winks and stands, swishing her hips and grins 
ovr her shoulder... C'mon back, then..."
* `Avery nods with a smile, pulling the hood back, and following her.
* `Joseph skulks about outside, looking for interesting "stuff"
* `Avery takes a spare moment to assense her.

she's..." she blinks.
* IlyanaGM tugs thoughtfully at her lower lip. "You bride have ANY clue what she's 
doin', Love?"

* Joe leans up against a wall outside, relaxing. He glances over at the fortune tellers 
and starts examining the building to determine who well Ch'i flows through it.

assistance, I didn't account for you being able to see through me like a window 
pane."
* IlyanaGM chuckles "That y'are, Laddie-Love... I'll ask again. How did y'get

* `Avery reaches into his cloak to pull out his FN, suppressor on. "We headed out to 
sea heading towards the south sea's"
 Ilyana's eyes WIDEN.... "What... the hells... is THAT?!"
<`Avery> "Everything was fine, we were jumped by these frog type things, thats 
when my wife was injured, and she's gained this odd quality to her aura."
<`Avery> "Have you seen any black powder rifles about these parts."
<`Avery> "This is a few steps up the ladder."
* `Avery places his staff against a wall and sits, sliding out the clip showing her its 
contents.
 "I know what a gun is, Lad, 'm not from NOW... but... wait... THAT is a 
GUN?" she looks at it curiously "Oh MY..."
<`Avery> "Fabrique Nationale Five-seveN, armor defeating clip fed, 20 round box 
mag. Very nasty in my time."
 "Where's th'powder?"
* `Avery laughs a bit, "I'll show you."
* `Avery pulls a spare clip from the sling and takes a round from it.
<`Avery> "Have a knife?"
* IlyanaGM draws her kris, and hands it to Ave, fascinated.... "Now... d'scribe these 
frog things..." she says, leaning close behind him, looking over his shoulder as he 
works. Ave can't help noticing that whenever she came from, they apparently don't 
believe in bathing lots. She has a strong musky oder of young woman about her.
* `Avery takes the blade and pries off the ball round, dumping the powder onto the 
table. "The ones in this clip are normal brass slugs, the others are a bit nastier, I 
don't like using it. Thats why I carry the staff. Each one of these is like loading that 
old muzzle loader. I can fire off this clip in about six seconds, a good muzzle loader 
can be loaded and shot 3 times in one minute. There is a large difference."
* `Avery proceeds to describe them nasty critters as best he can.
<`Avery> "Where I'm from, weapons like this, well, a bit less sophisticated, are the 
norm."
 "Ah... weapons like that don't last long, out here. Y'need industry to 
make 'em and get the ammunition, Lad. Now. Th'frog things that you encountered.

* IlyanaGM slips back across the table, and takes out a deck of cards that fairly 
BREATHES age, shuffling them absently. "An', start from th'beginning, aye? From 
th'first time y'heard of cards like these...."
* Joe tries to remember the actual name.
 "Ah!" she says in recognition... "An' did th'clouds over th'stars thicken 
b'fore they came aboard?"
 Comm: "Just tell her the entire story Ave. She obviously knows what she is 
going. Her shop is FASCINATING from a geomantic point of view."

IlyanaGM "brought... DAYLIGHT? Laddie, 'm tryin' m'best t'get ye untangled, but... a 
Ganger?"
`Avery "Ganger, a member of a group that goes under a common name. These 
called themselves the jackals."
IlyanaGM "Jackals? Oh. I SEE. Int'th'Core they are now? Damn 'em. Worse'n 
Wolves, that bunch..."
`Avery "They've come into the core, yes. They are the reason we were heading to 
the south seas, for information on Those cards."
* IlyanaGM chuckles "Bit off course, Laddie-Love.. this's Madagasgar"
`Avery "I know that, the cards is the only solution I can provide."
`Joseph Comm: "Ha! I knew we where in the Indian Ocean. Am I a great navigator or 
not? Ave, see if you can find an exacty city name."
`Avery "What is this places name, if you don't mind me asking."
* IlyanaGM smiles... "When?"
`Avery "When??"
IlyanaGM "Cities change their names, Laddie-Love. And they all swirl on th'Spiral, 
to'n fro."
`Avery "Oh, since you most likely won't know its future name, what is its current 
name."
IlyanaGM "I know't as Amboasary, an' parts'f it are, indeed. All depends on how your 
feet twist as y'walk out."
`Avery "could I slip into another part of the spiral just walking outside?
`Avery "
* IlyanaGM pulls a small pouch from under the table, and dumps a small handful of 
gems into her hand, then flattens and sporeads the "pouch" onto the table. 
"Depends. Strong's the Core's on you... you'll fall back, most likely. And the Spiral 
will fade from your memory."
`Avery "Great, just great. How do we keep from falling back into the core."
`Joseph Comm: "What about mechanical documentation Ave? I got some GREAT 
chip footage of that ship earlier."
`Avery "Is it a fully physcial change, or is it mental?"
IlyanaGM "THAT... well, let's toss the 'rede, shall we?"
`Avery "Thats a foreign phrase to me. I'm sorry."
IlyanaGM The cloth has an intricate knotwork hexagonal design that SHOULD be 
familiar y now...
`Avery "So, is this like the cards, without the cards?"
* IlyanaGM carefully smooths it out, and hands Ave the thick deck of cards "Cut, 
don't shuffle, once, then cut the cards into nine piles, spaced around  the hexrede 
pattern. The piles needn't be equal in any sense."
`Avery "Okaay."
* `Joseph shifts from foot to foot and looks around nervously.
* `Avery does so, taking his time. "This won't turn into a snake and bite me will it?"
* IlyanaGM shakes the gems in her hand like dice, eyes closed, her deep slow 
breathing seriously straining her low-cut dress
IlyanaGM "Shhhhh" says Ilyana distantly. "Concentrate, lad."
* `Avery closes his eyes tightly, concentrating.
IlyanaGM Once the cards are all in nine piles, Ilyana holds her hand out to Avery's 
face "A kiss and a breath on m'palm, for all the luck we can gather, aye?"
* `Avery nods and does as suggested.
* IlyanaGM opens her hand and Ave can see the gems glowing softly, the shimmer 
blending into a rainbow irridescence that blurs the colors of the individual stones.
* `Joseph watches the shop astrally, and notes any feng-shui changes.
* IlyanaGM kisses the stones as well, and adds her breath to Avery's, then closes 
her palm, and shakes sharply, nine times, before opening her hand over the center 
of the pattern... the gems fall like tiny stars, bouncing, rolling...
* `Avery stares, watching, listening.
IlyanaGM As the little gems settle, you note each is a different color... black, red, 
orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and clear.

* `Joseph goes inside the door to stand in the main room, looking about curiously.
* IlyanaGM bustles up front, picking  a  half dozen books from a locked case, and 
one or two off the counter, and stuffs them in a rather shapeless and already-full 
small sea-bag
`Avery "Anything you need help with, I have a friend that can carry most anything."
* `Joseph walks in the door, sniffing the air curiously as he examines the unusual 
way Ch'i flows through the buildings.
* IlyanaGM tosses Joe her bag "Take me, then, Laddie Love" she winks at Ave
* `Joseph examines the items in the display cases curiously.
`Joseph "Do you happen to have a geomancy compass madam?"
* `Joseph tucks the bag under his arm.
IlyanaGM "Er... y'I might... what's it worth to ye, Stone-Kin?"
`Avery "also, a trinket for my wife. To make her feel better."

term 'stone-kin' come from?"
IlyanaGM "Trolls lad. Made outta rocks, Doncha know?"
`Avery "The only rocks in this one, are in his head."
* `Joseph grins a bit. "I've been told I've got a rock for a brain before, but I didnt 
realize we where made of stone."
* IlyanaGM laughs "I always suspected that's where the legend came from..."
`Avery "Well, prepare for a bit of culture shock."
`Avery "We have a few things that may confuse you."
`Joseph "Anyway, I would very much like to purchase a geomancy compass, 
conjuring materials, and feng-shui gear. If you have any to sell."
* `Joseph stares off into space, sniffing the air ocassionally: "Did you geomance this 
building? Its quite fascinating."

* `Avery stops just inside the door, Comm:"Guys we've found someone who can 
help, she'll be coming aboard. She seems trustworthy."

* `Joseph turns and bows formally to Ilyana as a Shaolin. "My name is Joseph."
IlyanaGM "Ilyana, Sweetheart. REALLY, what's a girl got to DO to be remembered? 

Spaz` Comm: "Ohhhh joy.  You don't even know her name.  You guys get tispy in 
the tavern?"
`Avery "No, thats Jojo and barbie."
Spaz` Comm:  "Aye, but if you didn't, that leaves with NO excuse.  Oh well.  I'll just 
wait belowdecks while she summons an army."
`Avery "ilyana, You'll be remembered, trust me. Just do what you said you can, and 
we'll be greatful."
* IlyanaGM laughs
`Avery "Shall we go, m'lady?"
* `Joseph goes out of earshot- Comm: "I dont know if its such a good idea myself 
Spaz. But we need SOMEBODY that knows about this stuff. And she is the only one 
we have been able to find that does. Besides, she seems a fairly trustworthy sort."

Joseph` "Its alright JoJo. I trust you. I just didnt hear a couple comments and

* Barbie is standing at deck, looking at the incomming boat...
* Spaz` is still industrially sewing, trying to remember exactly how tall Jett is so he 
can get the hemming right.
* Spaz` finally gives up and goes up, looking for Jett, measuring tape in hand.
* Arianna` is silently watching the Sea Sprite as we draw nearer and nearer to it
Spaz` "Jett?"
* ViXeN` waits in her room for everyone to get aboard.  Her eyes still  hurt from the 
sun so she stays out of it as much as possible
* `Avery helps Joe with rigging the boat back up, letting everyone out.
* Jett scrambles out of the boat and onto the deck, looking weary. "Well, that was a 
bust."
`Avery "Not entirely."

* Jett shrugs. "I just mean there was no need for me to tag along after all."

* `Avery makes his way to his room.
Jett "I'll be downstairs in my room, gearing down, if you need me."
* `Avery steps into the room.
* Arianna` takes her time climbing on board the ship, Katie on her shoulder
* Jett retreats to her room and starts unbuckling and unstrapping her holsters.
* `Avery looks worried when he spies Vixen. "Whats wrong?"

JoJo_GM Ilyana steps aboard, and suddenly...
* Spaz` flicks the scissors open and closed absently in his hands, and goes to try 
knocking on her door.
ViXeN` "I am not sure.  I just got dizzy. I sensed something made me dizzy"
* Arianna` slowly wanders to her room, carrying Katie

* Jett ducks her head out of the hold, barely half unstrapped. "What's the matter,

touches thedeck... Jett and Ari get out a small shocked gasp each before their 
clothings hreads in an explosion of argent light...
* ViXeN` grabs her ears moaning falls back to the bed covering her eyes

* `Avery walks to Vixen, "I think you should meet Ilyana, she seems to know what 
she's doing."

* Barbie kneels at deck, painfully covering her ears...
* ViXeN` grabs Ave "WHat is going on? Something is wrong"
* Spaz` clutches the side of the bed, gasping, his eyes shut so tight tears begin to 
trickle from the corners.
Katie_GM As Vixen opens her mouth, for a moment only the sound of rushing water 
is heard, not her voice...
Katie_GM The silver light flares as Vix tries, voicelessly, to speak... then the light fa-
des completely
* Spaz` opens his eyes as the light fades, and grabs his katana, standing slowly.
Spaz` "Mother fucking..."
Katie_GM Ilyana as well as Jett & Ari, and thus, of course, Katie, are engulfed in 
silver flames.
`Avery "Its not just you, I saw, felt, it too."
ViXeN` "I know. Is it that woman? you brought on board?"
Katie_GM The moonlight fire fades, and two great black jaguar stand facing Ilyana... 
Ilyana too is changed...
* ViXeN` looks startled and fearfully to Ave
* `Avery almost freaks out, but keeps his composure, barely.
`Avery "Just, just, it will be alright. Let me go get Ilyana."
* Spaz` rushes out of the room, his katana held close to him, the handle down and 
tucked to his side, the unsharpened edge resting against the back of his arm.
* ViXeN` nods sinking down to the bed. "Yes I want to see her." lloking around 
startled still
* `Avery gives Vixen a worried hug, and runs updeck.
Barbie "What...is going..on?"
* `Avery appears on deck, wondering what the hell those things are.
Katie_GM As Barbie opens her mouth, a ROAR bursts forth... her words, but 
shaouted, laughed, cried, raved, begged, screamed, men, women, children..
Katie_GM hundreds of Voices, all more or less simultaneously
* Spaz` makes it out just a little before Ave - more than likely on the wrong side away 
from the action with his luck.
* Barbie looks around, freightend, confused...
* Spaz` runs around the other side, stopping short of the woman and the two 
panthers, looking across them at Ave.
* ViXeN` jumps up ringing her hands unsure of what to do. Knowing she wont be any 
help in the daylight
Katie_GM Ilyana's hair is now a lusterous cascade of black ringlets, skin flawless 
old-blood european, fairly RADIATING a sense of ancient secrets and power, her 
mist-grey dress and hooded cloak teasingly familiar... looking vaguely familiar.
Barbie "What  in hell..?"
Katie_GM Again, Barbie's voice echoes with a hundred voices not her own, few if 
any sounding the least bit sane.
`Avery "I think I know what may be happening. or I'm completely wrong."
JoJo_GM "O'ee Fraggin' DREK!" says a stunned JoJo
Spaz` "I've seen better entrances - but not with out the use of a boa constricter and 
seventeen naked men."
* Barbie is still on her knees, looking up in pain...
`Avery "Ilyana, Barbie's voices, Ghosts?"
Katie_GM Ilyana (?) shakes her head, a little dazzled, then blinks in astonishment at 
the two Nagual.
Katie_GM ((NOT to Ave's Q. btw))
Spaz` "Ave...do you want to get in the middle of this?"
Katie_GM >>>"Greetings, Warden. It has been.... Long... ere I have passed this 
way."<<< the perfectly matched Nagual voices rumble across the ship, hearable by 
all.
* Spaz` pulls his sword up into the ready stance, bouncing his feet into the correct 
places in one fluid motion.
* Barbie stands up, "Stop it.."
* Spaz` lets the sword drop, the point almost touching the deck.
Katie_GM Still, Barbie's voice is carved from snatches of what sound now to be the 
voices of people dying in fire and thunder.
Katie_GM "I... da-... CURSE it then, why not SAY so, this..." she gestures at herself 
"Is not ME any more!"
Barbie "Wha?"
Spaz` "Huh?"

Katie_GM Ilyana blinks, and seems to notice Barbie. She grimaces ratherin distatse, 
then blinks...
* Spaz` wonders if he should even be here - an unheard player on a crowded stage.
Katie_GM "Enough!" she cracks out, and then... the voices stop, leaving only a 
terrified Barbie on the deck
* Barbie sinks down on her knees again, "What..was..this?"
Katie_GM Ilyana:"Your ghosts come back to take you with them, Lass. Is THIS your 
Bride Avery? I AM surprised ye could manage my shop, Laddie-Love..."""
Barbie "I?, no, not me."
Katie_GM Ilyana cups Barbie's chin and inspects her face closely
* Spaz` keeps the sword point down, his eyes narrowing.
* Barbie backs off from her, "What are you doing?"
Katie_GM "Child... who DID this to you? I see no skill, only raw, raw hunger in you... 
you didn't know, did you?"
* Barbie shakes her head, "I don`t understand..what did?"
Katie_GM "Looking to see if you're dead yet, Dear." says Ilyana sweetly to Barbie's 
question.
Barbie "Not yet."
* Spaz` decides that he definitely shouldn't be here, and takes a few slow silent 
steps backwards, making to slip around the deck and down to his room.
Katie_GM "Your Soul, Child... it's been sacrificed. To something... quite unpleasent, 
though I can't tell what" Ilyana says, he gauze growing vague and distracted. Without 
your own devoured soul, the ghosts you eat, well... for those who are dead and don't 
yet realize or admitit to themselves to eat ghosts.. can have. Catastrophic results. 
But you're still alive for the moment, poor thing..."
Barbie "I..I don`t understand"
Katie_GM "Did... don' ttell me you did this to your SELF!?!?!" says Ilyana in horror, 
backing away from Barbie with an appalled look on her face
Barbie "What did? the ghosts inside me?"
Katie_GM "Th'... th' THINGS inside y'r shifterbody... they shouldn' be there. 
Shouldn't..." Ilyana begins to tremble vioelently, eyes rolling back into her head...  
"your spirit screamed, and screamed, until they tore it out, and fed it to th'pit, that it 
come out... unseelie-wise...all to force Death into life... and then patching y'r own 
death with the deaths of others..." she makes a gargling noise, then falls to the deck 
like a puppet with her strings cut.
JoJo_GM «Action» Barbie gets over to her, checking her pulse,  a single tear in her 
eye, "I know..."
JoJo_GM ((Nope, she doesn'teven look astrally active to you. a simple peasent girl 
gone-to-town and supplementing her barmaid pay with more personal service... 
which, of course, is NOTHING like what she PHYSICALLY looks like at the moment, 
but what the hey, right?
JoJo_GM Blood leaks slowly from under Ilyana's twitching closed eyelids, and the 
slack corner of her mouth

* ViXeN` is sitting on the bed with her head in her hands.  She looks up dully as AVe 
enters the room "Is everything alright?" she rushes up to him.

came up i'd back up and re-plan.  now it's like, whenver something strange happens, 
i have to charge even deeper into it"
Jett "I woke up neck deep and sinking in this, myself. Well, look on the bright side: 
we could always die here."
* Jett 's voice is half sarcastic, half not.

* `Avery holds her, in an attempt to comfort her. "Everything will be fine, Ilyana saw 
Barbie and passed out."

* Spaz` peeks out of his room at the scream, a large lacy piece of Katie's former 
dress draping his head, a needle held between his teeth.
* Jett looks around, puzzled.

* ViXeN` moans not noticing Ave. She continues to moan
`Avery "Shit, Ilyana."
Jett "Who? The screamer or the moaner?"
* ViXeN` trembles with passion moaning all the more.

* `Avery lays Vixen down gently on the bed, and runs to the bedroom where he stuck

guise. He eyes burn with the moon's light, and suddenly... Vixin's TWO people, faint, 
limned in silver, slowly UNoverlapping...
* `Joe steps back, YANKing Avery back too.
Cheshire^ "me and alycia, we used to celebrate by getting a sack of ho-ho's, some 
real moo juice then stealing whatever presents we thought would be fun"
Jett "Shooting stars. They burn, bright, then they fall and before you can blink, 
they're gone."

against the remains of the ghostly demon. He chants slowly in Chinese, making all 
sorts of mystic banishment gestures with his hands.
IlyanaGM "You... did you TEMPLE teach you that nonsense, laddie?"
* ViXeN` looks wearily up at the woman
IlyanaGM "YOU, lass, are in a WORLD of shit."
* Jett looks at Illyana. "He's the luckiest damn troll I've ever met...I wouldn't have 
thought he could conjure elementals, but he can."

chinese runes, stringing small Chinese lanters from the rigging, and generally acting

* `Joe nods. "Our goals on this voyage are complete. Except for one... if we can 
harm the Jackals (and their backers) more effectively from the Spiral, we should do 
so. If not, we should return to the core to fight them there."
`Avery "We can improve, we're taking stabs in the dark at the moment."
* IlyanaGM chuckles "Laddie-Love, the Jackals are FROM here..."
`Avery "I suspected as much, were here to remove them, or dent them severely, or 
at least do what we can to help out more than just our core world."
* `Joe listens quietly.
* IlyanaGM sighs. "Alright then, start from the beginnings. Whay is yer fate tied to the 
Jackals?"
* `Joe tells Ilyana our story. From the beginning.
`Joe "Well, we where on an astral quest Ilyana. And we came to this place that was 
a city. A dying city. The few people around where terrified of a group known as the 
Jackals. They had a symbol painted everywhere. It was this: "
`Joe "So they cornered us in the city... we killed alot of them that day. Probably 30 or 
40 at least."

`Joe "Earlier in the astral quest, we where confronted with a puzzle. I dont know if it

man was very dangerous. He nearly killed us all at one point."

`Joe "This Sebastian person has since been ... demoted I suppose... the new leader 
is a man called Thomas O'Riordan. Who calls himself Edward Grenoire."

`Avery "Is there something to that name?"
* `Avery lets a thought pass through his mind...

had been found. I dont know how accurate the report was however. Didnt see the

`Avery "I don't know. It seems Joe and I have been stuck with the role, not that I 
don't mind."

`Avery "I guess it was in the cards."

less 'reality' applies. The 'brokken' as you call them attack from the rim inward."
Ilyana_GM "The Brokken's a Place, Laddie-buck. An' y'should NOT name 
it,unprotected as y'are. It KNOWS, y'see."
`Avery "So, this place will seek you out and throttle you?"
Ilyana_GM "But... I've heard that tale, that the Ones Outside are coming in from the 
Rim...may well be true, though time here beingwhat it is, it'd be hard  to say, for 
sure."
* `Joe shrugs. "I've always been told it is the truth. I'm inclined to belive the elders on 
this issue."
Ilyana_GM "Throttle? Don'tye wish.  Nay, the Haunt of the First Sabbat will come 
and suck out your soul for a play-toy and fry yer insides up for kippers while they 
makeyouwatch."

`Joe "Anyway... you say this place is the home of the Jackals. How can we hurt them

`Joe "If we can destroy theirs, it could take them hundreds of years to make new

`Joe "These cards, are a hard to make, highly expensive navigation chart for the 
spirals."
`Joe "You mentioned a warder of the west. Should we seek that person out?"
`Avery "See Joe."
* `Joe looks a bit shot down by Averys comment.
Ilyana_GM "Per...haps. 'M not yet sure on that... though you're right as to the 
purpose of the cards,and toa lesser extent theircost,they aren'tTHAT expensive, nor 
particularily hard to get hold of"

children, plant, animal, man, woven together with the even slower dreams of stone 
and sea..."
`Avery "Dreams of stone and sea?"

fortune and far away places...  the Walls and Wards are thinnest, then, in places of 
commerce, trade, travel, and vision. Deep woods, old places, Ley's, and Ports... 
docks and quaysides, with the bustle of the Sea and the scentof foreignairs... THAT's 
whereyou ca ncross, even unawares."

for many, MANY years, before the Walls thin."
Arianna` "hmm....is there any way to control where you go when you cross?"
`Joe "Only if you have a navigation chart. The keys. The cards."
Arianna` "but how do you control where the cards TAKE you, Joe.  that's what I'm 
asking"
Spaz` "There's probably a pattern.  Has anyone bothered to write down what the 
spreads are when freaky shit happens?
`Joe "You need somebody that can read the chart. Use the keys. Read the cards." 

Ilyana_GM "Exactly... and for that, y'really need a True sense of Direction... 
otherwise, y'have to memorize symbol paths, and if they shift, ye're fucked."
* Spaz` tucks a bit of chalk white hair behind his ear, and scratches the back of his 
neck.
JoJo_GM "I've a Pilot's Book, if'n ye've anyone who coulduse it."
Arianna` "I want to learn"
Spaz` What do you mean by that?  A compass?  A map maybe?"

for it. But even one without it can learn a gooddeal more control than simple

* `Joe nods. "We should all take a crash course."
Ilyana_GM "Do I have t'make a choice, then? Why can't whoever's interested jus' get 
lessonin' at once?"
Arianna` "I want to learn"
* `Joe nods and produces the cards. He puts them on the table.
`Joe "How about now?"
* Arianna` sighs
Arianna` "what time is it?"
Ilyana_GM "What's wrong, Lass?"
Ilyana_GM Katie says "'bout 2 o'clock..."
Arianna` "nothing.  it just seems that everyone's ignoring me.  that and I have to go 
on watch in an hour, so I guess I don't get to learn"
Spaz` "Ari, I'd willing to teach you anything that I learned.  I know what it's like to be 
left out."
* `Joe shrugs. "I'll take your watch Ari."
Ilyana_GM "S'not a thing I'm wantin' t'teach at night anyway, Lass."  she grimaces 
atthe cards in Joe's hands "Andwhat'n HELL y  doin' with THOSE? Ye brains of 
sandstone? I cansee ye'reInitiated, CLEANSE 'em. I won't teach idiots, Laddie, 
they'll  get hurt an' I'll get th'bad karma  for't"
Arianna` "that's ok, Joe.  I've got ot make myself useful SOMEhow"
`Joe "You are useful Arianna. And you will be more useful learning to use those 
cards than on watch. You are a naturally better sailor than I am anyway. You picked 
up navigation using the stars 5 times faster than I did."
* `Joe raises an eyebrow grumpilly. "Clense them?"
* Spaz` slides off of the counter, and rubs his knees.
Spaz` "I'll take it then.  Night everyone."
* Spaz` heads out from the room to get an early start on it.
* Arianna` looks Joe in the eyes. "name one thing I've done that helped this team"
Ilyana_GM "I SAID not at night... and notwithTHOSE cards until they're cleansed and 
laid in sunlight"
* Arianna` calls after Spaz, "don't worry about it, *I*'ll do it"
Spaz` "You can do it with me."
Ilyana_GM "Apparentlythey don' listen t'me either, Lass..."
* Spaz` goes about looking over the rail.
`Avery "Joe, those things are dangerous. Do Not Use them until they are clensed."
Arianna` "yeah, well, I've been left out of the loop for just about the entire time I've 
been with this bunch"
`Joe "Okay. Tommorrow, you can show me how to clense these Ilyana."
`Joe "Then, we can have dreamtime navigation class."
Ilyana_GM "Aye... y'need more basics first anyway"
* `Joe nods. "I'm going to go lock these up."
`Avery "Clean em ASAP joe."
* `Joe takes the cards to his room and locks them in the safe.
* `Joe returns: "Gotta wait until tommorrow for that Ave. Ilyana said it takes sunlight."
`Avery "I said as soon as possible, morning is that time."
* `Joe nods. "Tommorrow then."
Ilyana_GM "So... as I was sayin'... Spiral is BIG. picture a wheel... the hib, in 
th'middle, is small, but moves very very slowly, andnotfar at all. Thenslide along the 
spokes... further yougo, the faster things move, until you reach the rim of the wheel
`Avery "Can you be flung off the wheel?"
* Spaz` starts flicking pebbles across the water.
Ilyana_GM "Oh yes... as youpassfurther from theHib, you're alreadymore and more 
influenced by... FILLED  by... the archetytpal Forces from beyond. Good and 
evilalikebecome more and more primal, until, when you leave, you become one of 
them."
`Avery "Do you mean good and bad become more defined?"
Ilyana_GM "EVERYTHING becomes moredefined. Yoursoul, andbody, are refined 
as in a forge, becomeing the pure, archetypal essence withinyou."
* Spaz` wanders back in.
Arianna` "what about someone like me?  I died once, but I didn't stay that way"
Ilyana_GM "Best, and safest, to stay near to the Core's y'can and not fall back."
* Ilyana_GM blinks
Ilyana_GM "Um... pardon, Lass?"
Spaz` "There's nothing out there.  Waitasec...bodies?  Lady, I think you caught the 
last train to Nutsville."
Arianna` "just what I said.  I died once.  I burned in a huge bonfire.  and then I woke 
up in the morgue.  so how would it affect ME?"
Ilyana_GM "Magic scuplts the body with every breathe you take, Shadow-Kin... your 
own fleshproclaims thehand of magiclike a trumpet,yes?"
`Joe Joes eyes flash over to see Ilyanas reaction to 'bonfire'
* Spaz` suddenly wonders who this gyspy nut is babbling to.
Spaz` "Trumpet?  Yeah, okay...that makes...no sense."
`Joe "She means that your body can detect magic Spaz."
Spaz` "Ah.  That it can.  But that was happening before I ever got here."
Ilyana_GM "You claim Magic hasn't made you what you are? Fool, tothink 
it,letalonesay it., You're an ELF, lackwit, and yet you say *I* have takenleave of 
MYsense,to say magic shapes flesh?"
Spaz` "I said you didn't make any sense.  Not that magic didn't affect me.  I suggest 
you think before you speak, gyspy Kin."
* `Joe looks highly uncomfortable.
* Spaz` bows.
* Arianna` sighs and continues eating in dejected silence
Spaz` "But I've been insulted enough for my tastes.  I think I shall retire to my room 
to live out the rest of this little three hour tour in peace."
Ilyana_GM "Child. Do NOT continue to insult me. I am a guest here, and have 
tolerated much.But I suggest YOU think before YOU speak. I did not begin the 
insults, nor will I finish them, because if *I* finish them,insults will not be what I use."
Spaz` "Good night good night, and may I see you on the morrow, when the sun has 
erased all our trials and sorrows."
Spaz` "I didn't begin them either, girly.  And I will be pleased as punch should you 
forget that I exist.  I shall endeavor to do the same for you."
`Joe "enough"
* Spaz` turns on his heel, and whispering a jaunty little tune, walks away.
* `Joe shakes his head softly. "Why does he act like that?"
* `Avery shrugs, "Just the way he is, I guess."
`Joe "And he wonders why nobody talk to him for months on end."
Ilyana_GM "Because he'sobnoxious andsuicidal, I'dthink."
`Avery "Take whatever Spaz says with a grain of salt."
* Arianna` pushes her plate away, the last few bites unfinished (which is unusual for 
her), and gets up, muttering "I'm gonna go get ready for watch"
`Joe "Well, dont take it too seriously. The poor guy doesnt handle magic very well."
Ilyana_GM Katie looks concernedly at Ari
* `Joe also looks at Ari concernedly.
`Joe "Any of you guys hungry?"
`Avery "I
`Avery "I've eaten."
* `Joe putters around in the kitchen, making himself almost frantically busy.
`Joe "Ilyana? Some dinner?"
`Avery "Ilayna, would Vixen be done with whatever she was practicing by now."
Ilyana_GM "oh! Aye, sure... whatever  ye're havin'..." she  says,distractedly
Ilyana_GM Katie gets up andfollows Ari
* `Joe nods and heads abovedecks.
* Arianna` walks out
`Joe "Barbie? You and JoJo want some dinner?"
JoJo_GM They're nowhere to be seen on deck, Joe
* `Joe head belowdecks and checks their cabin.
Barbie ((nope, empty))
`Joe  "What in the hell."
* `Joe checks the engineroom.
Barbie ((nope))
* `Joe searches the entire ship from bottom to top. Using astral perception to try to 
spot any invisibility spells.

* `Joe returns there once he figures out they didnt fall overboard.
Ilyana_GM >>sigh<< "You know, Lad. Youhave  to  LEAD tobe a Leader..."
* `Avery lowers his head some, "I do my best, when they attempt to listen to 
eachother."
`Avery "Most of us are fine. Spaz just loves raising hell, and pissing people off."
* `Joe stands in the kitchen, putting his emotion into cooking dinner for Ilyana.
`Avery "Some of the crew wants to head home, the rest wants to continue on."
* `Joe scoops a big bowl of his fried rice into a bowl and puts it before Ilyana. He 
makes himself a bowl too and sits opposite her to eat.
`Avery "They're confused, and have little to no idea what is happening."
* Ilyana_GM shakes her head "Avery... You fail to listen. I am here, as much as 
anything, to judge your FITNESS to be allowed to continue. The Spiral will take 
these unhappinesses and magnify them ruthlessly. You must show me that you can 
LEAD... can INSPIRE. Mind you, I shan't help a martinet, either. Lead by 
INFLUENCE, lead by EXAMPLE. Givingorders is NOT Leadership."
Ilyana_GM "I realize that. But that is WHY they NEED a LEADER."
* `Avery hangs his head, "I understand, I'm just at a loss about how to go about it."
Ilyana_GM "Don't  MOPE about it Boy, DO something about it."
`Joe  "Alot of its..."  "... miscommunication."
Ilyana_GM "Or we'll set 'em off ashore, and let them cross back t'the Core, where 
they shan't  hurt EVERYONE  with their divisiveness."
`Avery "We are here, in the spiral. Trying to fight something we know little to nothing 
about."
Ilyana_GM "That's a diagnosis, not a solution."
`Avery "These jackals, where would we find them in this spot of the core. or is it just 
random?"
* Ilyana_GM blinks... "What in th'HELLSare youtalking about? Ye're not IN th'Core, 
you're on the Spiral."
* `Joe gives Avery a funny look too.
`Joe "I think the boy is getting sleepy. Go to bed Ave."
`Avery "Thats what I meant."
`Avery "Just got the words jumbled."
* `Joe chuckles. "The guy probably hasnt been getting enough sleep. Newlywed and 
all."
* Ilyana_GM snickers
`Avery "Funny, Joe. How will Vixen be?"
Ilyana_GM "Weary andsick at heart... she must learn... terrible things... to be safe 
from the Power she hasgrasped."
`Avery "How terrible is terrible?"
* `Joe chuckles. "He probably hasnt had enough sleep. Newlywed."
`Avery "Cute, Joe."
* Ilyana_GM shrugs as sheeats  "Depends, of course. What're ye wantin' t'compare it 
to?"
`Avery "You tell me."
Ilyana_GM "Well, then I'll tell you to never mind. 'Terrible things' is as much's *I* 
think ye sh'd know."
* `Joe chomps on his rice, lost in thought.
Ilyana_GM "She's a Necromancer now, Laddie-Love. Getusedt'it. It's 
somethin'yeCAN'T share. Sheneeds y'UNtainted by it,to keepherselffrom slippin"
`Avery "Look, I love her and the last thing I want is for something bad to happen to 
her."
Ilyana_GM "Yecan'tprotect her from Life OR  Death, Laddie. Don't try."
`Avery "You don't think I know that by now?! I've almost lost her twice. She was the 
reason I decided to stick around on this mortal coil."
`Joe "Calm down Ave."
Ilyana_GM "Then stop actin'like thisis somethin' ye need t'RESCUE  her from, aye?"
Ilyana_GM "It IS. Ye CAN'T share it, so leave it BE."
`Avery "Would she be done doing whatever it is Necromancers do, by now?"
Ilyana_GM "I suspect. And be wantingreminding of Life'n Love, as well, Laddie"
`Avery "Joe, find out what you can about what you don't know yet. Alright?"
`Avery "Now then, if you two would be so kind as to excuse me. I need to be with my 
wife."
* `Joe finishes his rice and shoves the bowl away to be replaced by a book of Chine-
se magic. Joe turns his attention back and forth from the book and conversation.
* `Joe nods. "Sure Avery."
* `Avery paces off in measured strides.
`Joe "So, what advice would you give -me- madam."
Ilyana_GM "Relax, do what ye're good at, bewhat y'ARE, notwhat y'think y'OUGHT 
t'be. On the Spiral... understandin' who andwhat y'are... is the difference between life 
and... far, far worse than death."
`Joe "A universal truth I suppose. From your perception, what -am- I?"
* Ilyana_GM shakes her head. "A  Universal Truth, mayhap, but here it's LITERAL. 
And I  don't know ye well enough, except to see  deep... inner conflicts within you."
* `Joe looks up at Ilyana curiously: "Where are -you- from miss?"
Ilyana_GM "'Long ago andfaraway, and besides, th'Wench is dead.'"
Ilyana_GM "Nevery'mind.What y'need t'know is, I'm the Warden for Madagascar. 
One'f 'em, at least. And'tis I  ye got t'convince to letyoupass further in."
* `Joe nods. "Despite our disorganization, we do mean well."
Ilyana_GM "THAT I've nodoubt of... butthedarkcurrentshere... migt sethell loose in  
SPITE ofyour 'meaning well', Lad."
`Joe "I am aware of that miss. We will do our best not to allow that to happen."
`Joe "You have helped us alot tonght. Is there anything I can do to help you?"
* Ilyana_GM shakes herhead. "Be  as aware's ye want. Ye  don'tpass until I say so. 
Now, 'tis been a LONGday, an' we've much t'do on th'morrow. Where'll I be sleepin', 
an' with whom?"
`Joe "I've set your baggage in the third cabin on the left."
Ilyana_GM "Ah,  good'nough  then...  who's cabin's that,an' do they snore, or have 
any other habits I sh'd be  aware'f?"
* `Joe shakes his head as he turns the page. "Nobody else. Its your cabin."
Ilyana_GM "weel! 've fallen inta  th'lap'fluxury, 't seems. Good even, then. Wake me 
a half before Dawn"
* `Joe nods. "If you need help with the technology, let me know."
`Joe "I will be here. Wont be able to sleep anyway."
