Subject:AOS35: Bug report: HP printer driver does not support color text

Hi all,

although I have already opened a problem report on the Amiga site,
I have not got yet any response regarding this.
So I'd like to ask if anyone could help me with the following.

I am using a HP 815 C printer (via PIT0: on MFC3), which I know
is able to print color text. (Its not one of those dumb WinDoze
printer although it might look like.)

When color text escapes are sent to PRT: the printer does some
form feeds. So programs correctly relying on the escape sequence
interface will all fail, e.g. TurboCalc5 in text printing mode.
However an application providing its own printer driver can
flawlessly send the appropriate printer control codes in raw mode,
so this will work e.g. in old BeckerText3.

Upgrading the printer drivers to BB1 level did not solve the problem.

BTW, I bought an HP printer just because this is claimed to be supported
by OS 3.5. It works, but somewhat limited and turned out to be quite
powerful when connected to a WinDoze or Mac running the original HP
drivers supplied. So I ended up with the parallel connected to the
Amiga, and USB connected to the PeeCee.

Best regards,
