It's only one benchmark, benchmarks aren't accurate, etc etc. But a 2 to
1 difference is significant.

It is integer, not floating point. It is affected by optimisation in the
C compiler. Maybe part of the difference lies in gcc versus vpcc?
Anyway, this figure does flash a small warning light.
