Actually the problem with all the Athlon Duron Thunderbird whatever boards is that
their BIOSes don't read such data from the DIMMs automatically, so you have to do it by
hand, which makes life a bit difficult for some people. Intels, or rather P3 and
Celeron boards from all makers read them automatically, but you can fool around with
them later, I assume.

If they have to get their time paid for even finding these .. occasionally my dealer
gets to haul off a load of junk, i.e. the former generation of equipment he just
replaced at a customer. That's about the only place where you still get certain pieces
in mix'n'match quantities. But wait, I've seen one place that sells old highly
integrated, almost run-complete minus drives boards, with 8 MBytes of either EDO or FPM
SIMMs on them, for 25$ total.

Got my 3com USRob 56k for 60$, a while ago. Nonames should be possible for 25$.
Though that's not the whole story - you also pay for the people, and often they're
worth it. If you put numbers to your hours, you easily find digging out a suitable mail
order outfit the more expensive deal.
