Yes. it does work. I've not experienced any problems with it, but I
mainly
use scsi drives these days anyway, so the IDE doesn't get that much use.

Eh? That's 3 drives. 1x 1Gb, 1x 18Gb, 1x 40Mb. Personally, i'd avoid
using
the 40Mb drive at all, especially if it's an original 2.5 inch, as they
are
very slow.

Probably yes, as the IDE bus is the bottleneck. But it will
still be much faster than accessing two partitions on the same
drive. Just having the two drives on the chain shouldn't affect
the speeds at all.

The Amiga's internal IDE sucks. A power flyer would be a massive
improvement.
