| Subject: | Can I run two IDE drives off A1200 motherboard? |
Hello again!
Not a problem this time, but a fairly simple question...
I have bought a longer IDE cable from a local pc shop because I am still
using the factory-fitted cable (1 inch long) for my main (1GB) drive, but
this doesn't allow the drive to sit fully on the base of the tower case, let
alone reach the drive bays...
The cable has three connectors on it (like a small SCSI-II cable) so I
theoretically can plug two drives into it. I wanted to know if this was
safe to do / if the Amiga can cope with this, without getting errors on the
drives. The 1GB has been partitioned for sys: 200MB and work: 800MB. I
wanted to connect the original (factory) 40MB drive to use as IBrowse cache
instead of always accessing the other drive - 18GB (but only using 4GB ATM)
seagate barracuda. Also would transfer times to both of the IDE drives be
halved if both were being accessed at t he same time?
I am not using a power flyer thingy (or any other buffered IDE intereface).
Regards,
Richard.
