I forget whether it was a time period or a number of times you could use
it (the latter, I think), but there was definitely a limit for using MS
Office 2000 before you needed a code supplied by MS once you sent your
registration details.
Mildly annoying, but I guess on the plus side, a fax was sent on saturday
and we had a reply on the monday as to the code we needed. So if this sort
of quick service can be provided, I, for one, wouldn't really mind having
such limits. In my opinion it only falls flat on its face if the time
taken to receive the code is long enough that you're locked out of the
program before you get it. Having said that, I do have my doubts that a
pirate who was dedicated enough would have much difficulty overcoming such
measures.
As an aside, I positively hate MS Office and the fact that we *had* to
buy it at work to get the full functionality of MYOB (a
book-keeping/accounting package). Firstly because it's MS (slightly
childish, I know), and also because a package for this sort of money
really should be a stand-alone affair.
