First: this is not meant as a blatant plug or advertising, since I
have not much to advertise yet. Having said that, I post this message
here since it has been the topic of discussion on this list for a
couple of days.
Here goes:
Effective immediately, Crystal Software and Entertainment (CS&E) is
now in the hands of a new managing director, Dirk Harlaar. As David
Connolly, the former managing director, pointed out on this list a
couple of days ago, he pulls out off the Amiga market altogether.
I had no option but to keep the name, to be honoust, mainly because
registering a new name and setting things up anew would cost me a lot
more money than simply "taking over" an existing company. Money that,
in my opinion, can be better used to pay devellopers that want to work
with me.
A first release, Cosmos Fun Class, came with the inventory of CS&E,
and will be released as soon as I have mastered the CD and have a
couple of them ready. For the near future I intend to get some
conversions of PC games out (no Carmageddon, sorry), but I'm sure you
can read all about it in AA as soon as there is more news.
Even though I'm the managing director of a "new" CS&E, I feel the need
to appologise to everybody on this list and the people at AA
themselves, for the behaviour that has been going on on this list and
in private mails in the name of CS&E. At the time this was going on, I
was not involved in CS&E, but since I am now running the show as it
were, I feel it's only fair to say how sorry I am that this has all
happened, giving "my" company a bad name among you all.
I hope and trust that you will be able to seperate the names of CS&E
and David Connolly.
Last point: someone (sorry, forgot who) mailed on this list that he
hopes I will pay my devellopers. Maybe it was even said as half a
joke, but I think this is a good point that I need to answer. I can of
course promise that I will pay devellopers, I would be a lousy
businessman if I start this thing by saying I won't pay them. But it's
simple really: I hereby give all devellopers who now or in the future
work for me the right to tell it on this public list (and afb) if I
don't pay them. I think this is better than any lawyer could do,
because if it gets public that I don't pay devellopers in a community
such as the Amiga community, I can close shop faster than you can say
"close shop". Other than that, you will have to take my word for it.
There are some people, even on this list, who know me long and well
enough to testify that I always try to be honoust.
Well, that was a pretty long mail if I ever wrote one. I hope to be
succesful in this business, and to bring you some good games in the
process. I also hope that you don't mind if I make some money myself
while bringing you those games!
