And I said that you could prevent this under UNIX and similar OSs. This is
still the case. If you have memory protection, a multi-user filesystem and
the concept of programs only having access to the hardware via a
kernel-controlled interface, you can prevent keyboard sniffers from being
in any way a threat. If you want to sniff my keyboard, you have to gain
root on my system.

No. Windows is missing several important security features. The reason
that trojans are popular under Windows is, bluntly, because Windows has a
shit security model that's been poorly implemented. Properly implemented
systems *will not allow this to happen*. Claiming otherwise is ignoring
large chunks of work that has gone into operatiny systems over the past 20
years.
