'propper' switcher? Manual one should do the trick :)

It's probably how the different series tackle learning C. For the C
book, obviously the C++ version of that book is based for more
experienced users, while the C++ book you have is for novices.
Or, the books are simply trying to sell themselves as much as
possible :)
