I have a similar problem with an ancient Epson GT5000 parallel port scanner.
Works perfectly well with an ASDG cable on my Amiga but both my Athlon 600
PC and my laptop refuse to recognise it with a bidirectional printer cable
and both Windows 95 and Windows 98. Epson see no reason why it will not
work and no one can explain why the Pc for which designed in the first place
does not knows it is attached to it. If you find an answer please let me
know. It is a bore having to scan on the Amiga and transfer the files but do
not see the point of getting a new scanner when the one I have is perfectly
adequate. And no Mick, usb was not available when I bought it and it is not
a SCSI scanner.

Regards

Sheila
