Hi all,
Last question first: Who (if anyone) is the "secret message" refering to on p62??? :-)
Mixed feelings on the cover image!! One part of me - the artist - likes it, the other part - the artist - doesnt!!! heheheh. (make of that what u will folks :)
Now where have I seen the top picture on P7 before....oh thats right - an earlier copy of AmigaActive......:)
The Editorial piece by Andrew is always welcome, no matter how much news I read on the web the important details never seem to truely filter through. Things like the small quote from Bill with a break-down of what it means is imensly helpful for me as it pinpoint(s) (sorry, bad pun) the important stuff. Keep it up.....
Commenting on the Rant and Rave of Andrew Korn I have to say that while he has some very valid points, I dont believe that Amiga are taking a "much slower growth" approach. Ok, so we as users have not been told of many companies that are backing Amiga but all of the news that has been out there has hinted that there are numerous companies already involved, and many more signed on that will come into the light in a month or so time when the time is right for them.
As you say - McEwen is a marketing man, therefore he has contacts and when you have contacts in the biggest companies going you dont NEED to go public. Everything can be done via phone, email, personal meetings - why tell millions of users your plans before they happen (rings a bell doesnt it??....commodore, escom, gateway...etc) and then dash their hopes when everything can (as you rightly said) be done 'behind closed doors'.?? Each of the people McEwen knows will know a further 10 people he doesnt who will then know another ten and so. Cascade effect. I believe many more companies know about the "new rise of Amiga" than we believe. Sure, many of them wont give the idea a second thought - more fool them but many more will. We just dont know it yet.
Underneath the upper layer of the fire - still waiting to ignite - is a whole roaring bonfire alight with promise, excitement and contageousness. We are just beginning to feel the heat and see the light.. (ooh, I scared myself then! Whey too prophetic.....!!)
"The great escape" - HEY! What about the Amstrad CPC computers!!!!! They were around with the Spectrum - and even better than that computer! Lovely black keys which, in my mind was "just right". Mind u - since then ive discovered my A4000's keyboard....even better! :) And I stil prefer it over PC keyboards.
I have to say - and this wasnt mentioned in the rant - iMAC keyboards. ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!! That has to be THE worst keyboard ever. Small buttons mean you always hit two (if not more) keys at once, they are soo stiff your not sure if you've pressed them or not and as for the "hightener" under the keyboard - is it worth having it?? It makes the top of the keyboard all of 2mm higher! I'm not even going to mention what I think of the mouse...........! :(
I look forward to reviews of the two STBs talked about, especially Infomedia's one. (Cant say I like that icky yellow though :/ )

VERY happy to see a non-UK retailer advertising in your mag at last. Well done Merlancia! Shame the smaller ads at the back are a bit thin on the ground...!
Oh, and more Offers like Ifx! (not that I'll be buying it myself..but they are always nice :)
Is it me or does Earth 2140 look far too similar to Napalm and the other half dozen C&C clones out there? When will original games be made? Everything seems to be C&C; Space or whatever clones now :( (mind you - some are still very good and some companies ARE being original - well done DDE!)
Now for the one niggle about the mag - and its something Ive noticed in past issues too. your Picture/Text "justifing". Turn to page 52 in this issue. While the text curves nicley around the right hand side of the tower there are several words on the left hand side that have been "cut off" by the images bounding box. Why is the background of the image not transparent to stop this happening? And why wasnt it checked more carefully!!! It aint the first time, hopefully it'll be the last... (niggle over)

Absolutly LOVE the "next month" idea this issue. Who is it who thinks of these ideas each month and are they mad or do they get inspiration from somewhere?
