Hi There,
Just been reading some of the non-amiga press articles on the AmigaOne.
At best they are confused, at worse, Anti-amiga. The postings on MacCentral
were the worst though. "Why dig up that old courpse?", "Will the new Amiga
run OSX??", "Apple may sue them for copying technology", and "That
screenshot looks no different to an old OS3.0 with some hacks" were all
comments posted.
I really can't blame them for being confused. A lot of people within the
Amiga community were too. It is only just now that we're beginning to
understand exactly what Eyetech are offereing, and what OS3.9 entails.
There is a real negative image of Amiga in the greater computing community.
This hardware announcement was seen by many as a desperate attempt to bring
80's technology up to date.
No-one seems to understand what is actaully happening at Amiga Inc. Old
preconceptions have been brought up. There are even people who still think
that Gateway own Amiga.
Amiga should make clear thier current intentions and thier future paths to
EVERYONE. Also they HAVE to make a clear cut between where the classic
system ends and the New system begins. There were people who believed that
OS3.9 was the new DE! And they have to do all this before it is too late
to change peoples misconceptions of the new system when it is released.
