Hello All,
I was hoping for a reply from Gary on the points I raised in my last posting
on the subject. But he is a busy guy and it was kind of a big posting, so
I'll understand if he doesn't.
At the end of the day I just had questions that I needed to be answered.
As for the mailing list it makes for very interesting reading. There are
some people working very hard on new apps, and trying very hard to explore
every nook and cranny of the DE in a very short space of time. There were
a couple of "interesting companies" on there, but not really mainstream
stuff. This still hasn't convinced me that there is Major software support
form outside the community. (but I can see that there are people within the
community working bloody hard).
The other thing I was hoping he'd reply to was about the (small) project I'd
been working on. I was hoping that Gary could of given me more information
about submitting Ideas to Amiga Inc. or to a DE developer (I'm not a great
programmer).
Finnally, how about scientific applications? This is the area I'm most
interested in, and I was wondering how well the new DE supports these kinds
of applications, data gathering and analysis, physical modelling etc. Also
Are there any Scientific apps being ported or produced for the DE?
Another thing (Science related) is are Amiga Inc. aware of the Grid? I just
read a facinating artical today about the system, which CERN are designing
to distribute about one petrabyte of information to thousands of
scientists. As the web was desinged in a similar way (at the CERN by the
way), and they are touating this as the next generation Web Amiga may be
interested in it.
