Well, prehaps really they are dead? Do they make a nice spinny-upy
and clicky noise? (using very technical terms today :)

Also, you know the hd lead you're using works right? One thing you can
try is pulling pin 1 (bottom left one, when you've got your a1200 kb
facing you, the wire's usually red or has marks/spots etc) out from
the cable. Some old drives don't like it in, new ones don't like it
out :/

Finally, do they work in PC's? If not, you have some busted
harddrives :(

(well, you could try offloading it on some unfortunate bugger, a
friend of mine once sold a working '2.2gig' harddrive to a 2nd hand
shop. It was actually only about 200megs in size, but on the drives
lable it had 2.2g written so he said it was 2.2 gigs, it worked as
well :)
