Subject:Quake- It's a bit of a joke innit?

Hi There,

I've just had one of the biggest laughs of my life! I downloaded the 68k
version of AWinQuake off the aminet and the SW pak file from the ID site.
Just to see how fast it would run. I wasn't expecting a brilliant FPS,
although I've got ADoom running very fast indeed on my system. The thing
is I got SPF instead of FPS, even when the screen was at it's smallest.

Now I'm not bothered by this I don't really like quake and I own it on the
N64 anyway, but I'm woundering why people bothered to buy it.

My processor is an 040@28 Mhz which is rated at 21MIPS, now an 060@50Mhz
only gives 39MIPS, less than double the power, so should imagine that
whilst playable, it isn't that playable.

To be fair, this port (by the author's admission) isn't as fast as the
Clickboom one, and I don't have a GFX card (yet) which would make a little
difference, but still after years of hearing how good it was, "the best
amiga game ever" isn't very good on an amiga is it? PPCs do have a use
after all.......

See Ya,

Andy "Evil" Hall
