Hello All!
Some guidence required.
I recently purchases two 2.5in. Hard Drives at a computer fair (the
seller not having tested them), that had been stripped from Laptops
and I'm wondering have I lost my 'gamble'.
Both drives are Toshiba, a 1.4Gb., and a 8.5Mg.
When I tried them on a 'bare bones' A1200, both Read/Write Heads tried
to read 3 or 4 times and then stopped, although the Disks continued
turning. They prevented booting from both OS3.0 and OS3.1 Install
Floppies until the R/W Heads stopped searching.
When the OS Floppies eventually booted, neither HDDInstall nor
HDDTools recognised that a HDD was there, and I've also tried with and
without the Red wire of the HDD cable connected. There are no visible
jumpers on either Hard Disk. I've no idea what the original OS was on
the Disks. By the way, I've tried with an A500 PSU and a PC PSU,
just in case....
I would greatly appreciate anyone giving me some ideas before I bin
the HDDs'. And it goes to show I'm surely no Gambler!
