Well I have been liasing with eyetech about this and all they could suggest
was that I remove and replace all cards one at a time but I have been trying
other things too: I have the original 40MB IDE hard drive which is
basically now formatted with OS3.0 and a couple of programs and also I have
CGX3 on it and it *used* to work before I removed it and replaced it with
what I am now using (1GB), but I just tried this morning and the 40MB drive
also freezes on startup. Run snoopdos and this time it's freezing on
datatypes.library (which is the original one, and same as on the 1GB drive),
so I reboot again without startup and just type in "loadwb" and when I go to
click on CVision3d icon in devs/datatypes, it freezes again. Now I know for
a fact that I have had the gfx card working in 24bit modes before, (IBrowse
was beautiful) *and* with both hard drives connected separately, so I reckon
it *has* to be a problem with either the CV643d card or the AMON flicker
fixer thingy that the monitor is plugged into. All the above testing I have
done basically confirms this (IMHO). And the fact that it is coming up in
early startup screen as a "Working" board suggests that it may be the
flicker fixer/AMON, as this would not be seen by the board checking routine?
Looks like we've got dud boards :( I'm waiting for eyetech to get back to
me on the 40MB hard drive testing I have done. If I have to, I will
reformat it and just install nothing but WB3.0 and CGX3 and *then* see what
happens.
At least x-surf is now working :)
