| Subject: | Help: Nasty PPC card h/w prob |
Hi Everybody,
A friend of mine's got a PPC card, but he's got a rather large prob
with it (It's a BPPC/200 + 040/25):
i only have an amiga1200 with hd and this f'ing expansion.
ok, the problem is as follows:
I insert the card and then when I turn my machine on anything can
happen, sometimes the card is recognized and everything works great,
however must of the times this happens: 1- the hd is recognized and
then it stays there, moveless and it doesn't boot, a black screen
stays and no mather how many times I reset the same happens again and
again, sometimes while the screen is black i get a guru and then the
machine resets the hd is recognized and then it stays there and it
doesn't load.
2- sometimes the hd loads but the mem is not recognized, however the
040 is. 3-when I hold the 2 mouse buttons and I check in the expansion
boards option sometimes the card is recognized and the word: working
appears. but sometimes there is nothing like if i wouldn't have any
card.
4-even when the card works fine after some resets I get some weird
error messages while workbench is loading like: wrong number of
arguments or monitors/devs is not executable, however workbench is
loaded succesfully and everything works fine for a while.
5- once that i start getting problems it happens that the hd starts to
load and suddenly I get this message:
dh0: program failed, and then guru.
basically this is what happens, but must of the time the machine
simply refuses to work when the card is connected, I tried a bigger
power supply, I disconnected the hd and it does the same only that the
screen that appears until you insert the workbench disk doesn't appear
it stays there in a black screen, I even disconnected the drive and
it's the same, please if somebody has any ideas let me know, I hope
this is not a failure on the card itself as compuquick said that they
checked the card before it was sent therefore i don't have any
warranty, pretty nice eh??? :(:(:(:(
So, anyone got any ideas? He lives in Mexico, so sending it over to
germany to be fixed would be quite difficult.
