Subject:Re: Amiga announcing silly named things? ;)

Hello all,

I've just read though the entire thread again, and I think I have a better
Idea what everyone is going on about.

I think the *real* disapointment is the actual announcement. AmigaOne has
quietly been hyped up for months, with Amiga Inc. hinting every now and
then of something spectacular, working with a major firm. And then we get
this rather weak announcement about something that has previously been
announced and part of an intense argument over the last week or so.

Yes it would be nice to turn my Amiga from this thing that my mates laugh at
to a AmigaDE dream machine, but what would the point be? Yes I have
invested lots of money in it , but I'd rather let it retire gracefully (or
even run alongside a DE machine in a LAN).

The specs shown are nothing like current amiga hardware. What would the
point be of upgrading the system to the extent where the system you are
upgrading becomes nothing more than a large bootup circuit?

Get NEW hardware, start afresh. Leave all the old technical restarints
behind. As I've said many times on AFB, if commodore hadn't of gone bust,
the amigas we would have today would be nothing like the A1200.

All I ask is that Amiga Inc. pull their finger out and start getting the
REST of the computer industry involved, not just the amiga community. As
good as it is that they've involved as from the start, and used us as a
resource, they won't get far by just selling the DE to us.

Regards
