| Subject: | Is my AGA chipset fried??? |
Hey all..
I think I've mentioned this in one of my recent posts but it was abit
off-topic...
I have two problems which have occured at the same time...
I have Cybergfx 3 running and usually it comes up with AmigaOS 3.0
AGA on the top of workbench but since I've added the x-surf zorro
card, it's been saying ECS instead of AGA.
Could I have damaged my graphics chips (maybe static, but I made sure
I de-staticised myself by always touching the case of the tower
(yes ,it was turned off, but still connected to the mains) and now
the miggy thinks it's only got ECS??? Doesn't the gfx card have a
daughter card that clips over the top of one (or more) of the gfx
chips on the miggy's motherboard?
The other problem is that at every bootup, the cpu's data caches are
disabled (checked with sysinfo) so have had to put "cpu >NIL: cache"
in my startup-sequence to turn them on all the time.
I've tried the early bootup screen to make sure "best gfx" is
selected and all caches are enabled (both of these are always
selected anyway).
By the way, the miggy is *heaps* slower with data caches enabled :)
Less than half the speed with them enabled.
So, have I fried my gfx chip(s) or what?
This is only one of the many problems I am having at the moment (see
other posts to read all about them) and I'm pulling my hair out
trying to get a working system (I've got a shaved head so it's really
hard to pull my hair out!)
Help me, please! I'm begging you!
I'd try it all out on another miggy but I think there must be 1 in
100,000 people with an Amiga in Australia, and I can't get to the
only local Amiga dealer for at least another two weeks!
