Not necessarily; you can /create/ partitions quite happily without TD64
patches or anything - because creating them just involves writing a few
bytes to the beginning of the drive (the RigidDiskBlock). The problem is
that without TD64 patches, writing to the second 4GB (when the 12GB
partition is formatted) will overwrite the first - hence destroying the RDB
and the contents of the Workbench partition!
The best bet for restoring this system will be to create the partitions in
HDToolBox, reboot, format just the Workbench partition *leave the others
unformatted*, and then install WB3.5 and ensure that the TD64 stuff is
installed.
Once that's done, it should be safe to format the other partitions. It's a
good idea (even if it's unnecessary) to do a full format on all partitions -
because if it's going to screw up you want it to happen *before* anything
important is written to the drive.
