Yes, this was necessary for all OS versions after 1.3 ;^)
It just seems so slow... I think I have a problem with data
transfer rate A2286 <-> Amiga. I am using the Amiga as the
A2286 hard disk host. Changing buffers allocations on either
A2286 or the virtual drive made no difference at all, which
struck me as being very odd. It has never been as fast as it
used to be under the original 1.3 and original Janus.
Originally I had a separate drive or partition dedicated to
the A2286, but that used to crash the Amiga if I accessed a
large Amiga program while the A2286 was still booting.
Putting the virtual drive for the A2286 in the boot partition
removed the crash problem.
This work around was needed for 1.3, 2.04 when using A2091
and scsi.device, and both sets of Janus software. When I
first moved to bliz2060, with the 2060scsi.device and 3.1 I
had such a big fast drive (1.2G, 512K cache, wow ;^) that I
did not bother with trying a separate partition for the old
slow A2286.
