Subject:PFS3 - EIDE problem

Hi all,

I was wondering whether anyone else has had the same problem as I have.

I use a 4 way buffered interface which I purchased some time ago from Power computing. This comes it's own software which includes a 4xeide.driver. This driver is installed at the top of the Startup-Sequence.

This i/f, when used without the software is simply a 2.5 - 3.5 adapter but with the s/w it becomes a 4 way buffered i/f. In addition the i/f splits Hd >4Gb into 4Gb logical Units.

Now, when using either OS3.1 FFS or PFS2 the driver acts normally and on my 4.3Gb HD I get two LUs. The first I have partitioned as: Wbench: 100Mb ; Temp: 100Mb ; Utilities: 1Gb ; Graphics: 1Gb ; Games: 1Gb ; Data: 400Mb ; Internet: 400 Mb.

The second LU I have partitioned as Spare:

Whenever I boot with this setup I can 'see' and access both LUs and all partitions.

I have since installed PFS3, have added it to the RDBs of both LUs and have added it the partitions. Now when I boot Wbench displays ram: and spare: and then hangs with the busy pointer.

This occurs wherever I place the driver within the startup-sequence if it is prior to loadwb. If i boot without it I can 'see' the first LU and its partitions but not the second. Also if I run the driver after loadwb ie from shell, I can'see' both LUs and all partitions.

As the second LU has only got a small partition of 29Mb (don't ask me why it's not 300Mb) I have decided to leave the driver out and to have access to all the partitions on the first LU.

Now all partitions have been formatted with pfsformat and are working fine.

Anyone else experienced similar?
