Turns out the problem appears to be in TurboPrint. The printout is
a mixture of text and graphics. When printing in the higher densities
the text is partly shifted. That is to say, the top part of the first
letter is printed at a certain position while the bottom part of that
same letter is printed about 1/4 inch to the right. I turned off the
mirror option and reversed the text in PageStream before printing.
Turned out fine. The only problem now is judging the contrast and
brightness levels. Printing on plain paper gives a different look
than printing on the transfers. And each time I change it, another
sheet of transfer is trashed. Is there a better way?
