| Subject: | [just-amiga] Paul Cavanagh @ AF making me laugh! |
From: Chris Seward <amiga@thefree.net>
Hi All,
Well by now most of you are probably bored by my rants at AF and
its staff but i'm going to rant anywa ;) Thats not to say that I don't
like AF because I have actually just taken out a 12 month subscription
with them, if they'll still be around in 12 months is another matter
altogether.
The first knowledge of Paul Cavanagh was when he called my up
saying he was reviewing Wasted Dreams for AF, as I am the UK
Distributer for the game I offered him the advice and then see
the review which gives the game 72% overall. Not wanting to sound
bias but even if I wasn't the UK Distributer I would certainly
give it a hell of a lot more than that as most of the people who
registered it did.
Before I'd actually seen the review a person from one of the
leading Amiga software suppliers, VERY well known who will
remain nameless also told me that they had their doubts about
Mr. Cavanagh but thats all I will say on that matter :-)
This month I see the Gremlin Collection receive 36%. Firstly
I do not condone piracy but some of these games on that CD
are not available anymore so how the heck does he expect
them to appear on the CD. Its alright people today saying
that you should buy the games but say when a company has
gone bust and the game doesn't exist anymore to buy, what
do you do? well people are left with one solution.
I notice he didn't complain about AF putting a full game of
Stunt Car Racer on the CD a few issues again and the reply
to a persons letter about it was that the Aminet also had
it, they call THAT and excuse?
I think Mr. Cavanagh was expecting a CD full of playstation
games because the games on the CD are some of the all time
greats, Gremlin was a market leader back then and probably
still would be on the Amiga. Zool was one of the a1200 launch
items and looking through the list of old scores from past
magazines that they display at the top most got over 80%.
Is Mr. Cavanagh up for the job? Why didn't AF employ an
Amiga fan and not someone who packed up their Amiga
well over 2 years ago?
Toodle Pip!
