I had similar problems but putting in the full path seemed to do the
trick.

Same here - you could just manually remove all the assigns (although I don't
bother since I've got 2 CD drives) but IIRC, it's a problem that was never
fixed and happened with all of the CUCDs. I don't think it's possible to
have a de-assign script that caters for every possible setup so you might
just have to live with it (or write your own?).
