About those patents invented by that bloke who doesn't work for Amiga yet were
registered in Amigas name (y`know, all that fancy interface stuff):
It's safe to assume that all those patents are designed mainly for a set-top box
type thing - although they wouldn't be limited to one.
Now my questions are:
What type of OS would be needed to run those type of interface things?
A pure Java OS? WindowsCE? Linux?
Would the OS be burned onto a ROM or stored in flash-ram ?
And what would the hardware requirements be for running an interface and the OS
on a set-top box?
My point is if Gateway are serious in targeting the set-top box market, and were
making sure that patents filed by other subsidiaries are done so under the Amiga
name - what can we guess about the system that patents like those require?
Will it have to have a special Java-optimsed chip? (Transmeta / Sun's new chips)
Special video chips?
Small, tight multimedia OS (like oooh, AmigaOS ;-) )
etc.
Or could it really be something like a yucky WinCE powered thing with
JavaAppletts running the show?
Any guesses?
