Hmm. The web is a different medium entirely though, this kind of approach
doesn't hold any water I'm afraid, you can't impose dimensions on someone on
the web.

Well, I don't agree with any fixed width site. I'm not really complaining
here though... in fact consider this my offer to upgrade your site to "true"
web format if you so wish. All I'd need is a .zip or .lha of the site and a
wee bit of discussion/clarfication on goals/design elements.
