Thanks for the magazine and long life.
Just read the article on graphics cards. I was dissapointed. I was hoping
for information that would be aimed at someone, like myself with no
knowledge of how to go about using one on my A1200. The article just seemed
to repeat once more the benefits of a graphics card then discussed problems
associated with various cards. Too often Amiga articles move from the
basics to the advanced topics skipping the bits that I need to know,
leaving me frustrated. I need more basic help. I want to know the options
for putting a graphics card into my machine, for instance I need to know
how it can be done without towering my machine, (I use a converted PC PSU)
. I need to know how it will work with my Apollo 040/40 accy card. I need
to know if a PPC card is essential. I need to know if my Microvitec
Multisync monitor will cope with all screen rates that would be thrown at
it. I wouldn't mind a 'Which' report of the various choices open to me.
I can see that the problem with techy articles is that you may bore some
computer literate readers who already know all this stuff and at the same
time baffle the greener readers. I consider myself halfway between those
extremes.
In CUAmiga once there was an article about networking Amigas together, same
problem with that one. After reading it I didn't know if I should buy Envoy
to link my two A1200's together or stick with my Parnet setup.
BTW. I am often irritated by technical references to other computers. I have
little knowledge of PC's and have never seen a Mac.
