Hello,
I managed to pick up my copy of AmigActive yesterday afternoon when I went to
Ipswich (Suffolk). Out of interest I looked in as many newsagents as I could
find to see if it was available. I found it in WHSmiths, a big stack right in
front of AF, Martins which is where I got mine from, and three small
newsagents. Though quite why one of them had placed it in the car magazine
section is a complete mystery. :) I don't know how useful this information is
and if you want any more reports on the availability of AA?
I have to say I'm very impressed even though I haven't read it all yet. As for
those complaining about the size of the mag, I'd rather have the better
quality paper and smaller type as opposed to the toilet paper used by that
other mag. Andrew was indeed right about the quality of it, this months copy
of AF at 100 pages weighs the same (more or less) as the 76 page AA.
The CD is also good, and Imagine my suprise to find Magnum Opus complete with
the updates on it as well, and done correctly, thanks whoever did it. Apart
from the slight problem that has allready been mentioned and sorted out. The
only thing I found was that for me AWeb threw a wobbly on the PNG images in
the Built with Amiga web site. The processor usage went to 100% and took ages
(20 minutes) to decode the images on my 060. However after changing the
setting in AWeb to use internal decoding of PNG it works fine.
BTW, has anyone thought about doing some different size banners that we can
include as a link on our websites? Or do we pinch the logos off the CD and
make our own? :)
Roll on the next issue, I'm looking forward to the Zorro4 busboard review.
