A number of eukaryotic  and  archaebacterial ribosomal proteins can be grouped
on the  basis of sequence similarities. One of these families consists [1,2,3,
4] of:

 - Drosophila L1.
 - Human L4.
 - Xenopus L1A and L1B.
 - Yeast L2 (RP2).
 - Schizosaccharomyces pombe L2.
 - Halobacterium marismortui HmaL4 (HL6).

These proteins  have  246  (archebacteria)  to  425  (human) amino acids. As a
signature pattern, we selected a highly conserved  region  in  the  N-terminal
part of these proteins.

-Consensus pattern: A-G-x(2)-T-x-A-E-S-[FYWQ]-G-[ST]-G-R
