James Smith once danced professionally in New York, but these days he bounces from job to job along the Las Vegas Strip. James has perfected the art of complimenting and "working with" young dancers to get them between his sheets. Though he seems unusually taken and obsessed with Nomi Malone, she may only be the latest in James' long string of conquests.

"You got more natural talent when you dance than anybody I ever seen." (to Nomi, probably not the first dancer to hear it)

James is not an inherently bad person, but he's certainly shallow, corrupted, and incapable of predicting the negative consequences his actions have on Nomi and the many others who try trusting him.
