From a programmers point of view, using MUI saves a lot of time and makes life much easier. Thinking about complicated terms like window resizing or font sensitivity is simply not neccesary. On the other hand, users of MUI based applications have the ability to customize nearly every pixel of a programs interface according to their personal taste. This distribution is interesting for both, users and programmers. Please have a look at the supplied demo programs and at the documentation to see what MUI has to offer. There are several commercial offerings available, however the casual user is paying a lot of money for many facilities and options they would probably never use. Bitmap graphics, by their nature, usually require large amounts of RAM. One of the main objectives of ImageStudio was to reduce this burden by utilising virtual memory - most users have more spare hard disk space than spare RAM. 1557 IMAGE PROCESSING 3 GIFKIT v1.0, Allows you to do visual crops, resizing, flips and rotates of GIF images. Just like using different font styles to set the tone for a document, using different reflection maps helps to set the mood and character of your animations. All four of these reflection maps are seamless. TWO BUMP MAPS - These were done with a science fiction theme. They help you to create both an alien and the planet it came from. The trick is to also use them as a diffuse map as well as a bump map. Apply the OrganicArmor texture to a humanoid model to get one wild looking alien. Apply the EnemyPlanet texture to a sphere to create my version of the planet Metaluna from the movie This Island Earth. Both of these images are seamless. NINETEEN SURFACES: twelve of these are for the included reflection maps, two for the included bump maps and five other procedural based surfaces are included. 1560 THE BIG DUMMY'S GUIDE TO THE INTERN The Big Dummy's Guide to the Internet is now available, in a variety of easily convertible formats *and* at your local laser printer. Runways have usually more than 3 kilometers so it will make some problems if you want to trace it using INT versions of Imagine (or maybe using FP versions too, I don't have any). So if you want to get a traced picture, you'll probably have to scale it down (factor 0.1 or something). The southwest corner of the airport is not finished, I suppose there should be some terminals and hangars and I don't know how they look. 1981 SOND BOX V1.97 This tool converts RAW,IFF,VOC,WAVE,AIFF,MAUD and Maestro samples into each other format. The demo gives you a choice of about 15 games to chose from. The menu system on the disk is quite good and has been thought about. This deserves about 6 out of 10 for a demo. 1995 BEGINNERS TYPING TUTOR This is by far the best typing tutor for years I have seen on the Amiga. It is worth every single penny. It consists of two games, one is called the letter game and the other one is called the word game. On the word game you have to type a word in before the timer runs out. A must for all typers. 1996 PRO-GAMBLE V2.1 This is a great piece of software for those of you who wish to gamble. You simply enter which daily news/race paper you are reading then it asks a number of questions relevant to that paper. Once all the race information has been put in you can go ahead and check the estimated results etc.. Very good indeed 1997 LOTTERY PREDICTOR V1.0 Another lottery prediction system. This latest addition has a few added advantages over the other available. For a start this one uses intuition fully so it multitasks and it uses only a small window on your workbench. Also it looks very nice! The added touch of the lottery symbol makes all the difference. The best lottery predictor yet. Note, however, that reading the ROM is only legal if you have bought the ROMs or own a real Macintosh. 2006 MIDI TRIGGER V2.11 This is a simple program, with a lot of hidden potential. It plays various samples (through the Amiga's internal hardware), upon the triggering of certain notes through the MIDI interface, or the Amiga's own keyboard. Each note can trigger a different sample (assuming you've enough CHIP RAM available), or they could trigger the same one at different pitches. For example, a combination of the above methods allows four (or more) piano samples to be played across the range of the entire keyboard giving very high quality reproduction. The demo environment 'Virtual_Piano.mte' shows how this can be done, and is a very useful feature when you have keyboard without a particularly good sounding piano (eg. mine!). 2007 BASIC ELECTRONICS V1.1 This disk is not intended to be of a professional nature but more of a help to those who do not understand the electronic world or the like. Perhaps more for the younger generation, all the IFF pics are designed to be basic and simple for the younger generation in mind.
