Preface  Dear User, you've gotten quite a good Analysis program for your Amiga. Congratulations! You'll see how many options CURVE! offers you. Just try them all. To work with CURVE!, you must always use it in the following way: * Author an expression * Do something with the function (graphing, extremes, symmetry,...) * Klick on "Function No. 1" * Author another expression ... 3... Author expressions  CURVE! is not that complicated to use, but authoring expressions might be a little difficult the first time. That`s how to do it: First distinguish between... 2 * Rational functions (e.g. x - 5x + 2) * Trigonometric functions (e.g. 2 COS 2x + 1) 2 * broken functions , e.g. x - 2 ----- x + 5 Now in detail: * To author an rational function, please klick on "Author expression" and then on "Rational functions". That's what you see then: 6 5 4 3 2 x x x x x x Now just put numbers before the x-terms. If you e.g. want to enter 5 3 x - 3x - 1x , you ... 6 klick RETURN (because you don't need the x . Then you enter a 1, then RETURN, then -3, then RETURN, then -1 and then RETURN `enter' means: klick sign (+-), then number ( 1 2 0.5 1/2 ) then enter Trigonometric functions (sinusfunctions), * Klick on "Author expression" and then on "trigonometric function" * Now you see some kind of term that look like that: a SIN b ( x + c ) + d Now just replace variabels. * try SIN, COS, TAN, COT (the ladder ones can be entered, but not derived in CURVE!) `Broken' funktions can be entered like rational ones. Everywhere: you can use numbers like 1/2, -3/4, PI, 2PI,... 4... Work with functions  Ones you have entered functions, you can do something with `em. Zeropoints: Just klick on "zeropoints" and wait.... Extremes and turning points: like zeropoints Derivations/Anti-Derivations: Just klick on derivations and you'll see the first three ones. Symmetries: Just klick it and CURVE! will tell you if there are any "simple" symmetries. Function table: Gives you y's to some x's. Slopes: Enter the x and you'll get the y and the slope of the tangent thert. Intersections: To find intersections: Enter the two functions (e.g. No. 1 and 2) select "Intersections", klick OK. It will take some time. You should select "Very exact" in the Preferences, otherwise CURVE! might not find every intersection ! 5... Integral calculus  It's quite easy. Just enter one or two functions and either calculate the integral between the function and the x-axis or the integral between the two functions. * Klick "Integral calculus" and then e.g. f(x) & g(x). Then select the two functions (e.g. 1 and 3), then enter the two x-coordinates. By the way, CURVE! can not perform intergral calculus with broken, TAN or COT functions. Sorry. 6...Planimetry  Just use the integral calculus to do planimetry. But be careful with negative areas (you might need to cut areas into two pieces). 7... Printing/Saving/Loading  * Print functions: use preferences to select grey or color, load with you workbench or harddisk (best: activate TurboPrint), switch printer ON-Line, feed paper, then select "Menu", then "Print". * Loading: Select "Menu", then "Load", choose name of the file, klick OK. * Saving: Select "Menu", then "Save", choose name of the file or enter a new one, then klick OK. 8... Preferences & Installation  Klick "Preferences" and choose what you want: * Range of the system of co-ordinates. Klick Gadget, then enter number from 1 to 9. * Accuracy. Klick the gadget to choose. * Number of functions: Klick gadget to increase number. * Choose, if everything should be printed on Monitor or Printer. * If you have a color printer, klick on "Grey" to change and vice versa. * With "Clean `em all" you clean up the system of co-ordinates. Installation: To get the perfect printer-device, install CURVE! on your harddisk or workbench. Just move the icon over. CURVE! does not need any external libraries.  AND LAST, BUT NOT LEAST: If you decide to use Curve, I really beg you to pay the share.
