President Clinton on February, 21, 1996, announced the opening of a 24-hour, toll-free national domestic violence hotline. The number: 1-800-799-SAFE. The President is committed to ensuring that every woman and man has access to information and emergency assistance, whenever and wherever they need it. In its first three days, 7,900 calls were made to the hotline.
