The Department of Energy and the Southeastern Universities Research Association will dedicate the country's newest particle accelerator on May 24 at a 12:30 p.m. ceremony in Newport News, VA. Energy Secretary Hazel O'Leary and 1995 Physics Nobel Laureate Martin Perl will be among the speakers. More than 1000 scientists from some 200 institutions around the world will use the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF) to study the structure of the atomic nucleus. Tours of the facility and interviews with scientists will also be available to reporters. The ceremony will be satellite uplinked for use by television.
