F.T.I.R. - Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy
The spectrum obtained by Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy
is used to finger print minerals. At the Natural History Museum
it may also be used to distinguish between natural resins, such
as amber, and synthetic materials.
I.C.P. - Inductively-coupled plasma spectrometry
Inductively-coupled plasma emission spectrometry is used
to measure major, minor and trace element components in a variety
of geological and environmental materials.
