Welcome to the Natural History Museum's World Wide Web site
The Natural History Museum first ventured onto the Web in July 1994 and was the first UK national museum to have a web site. Since then, the site has changed dramatically and will continue to do so. One of our latest developments is Science casebook. Please take a look!
Our web site is divided into four main sections. The first section, The Museum, provides details of our current exhibitions, sister organisations, on-line exhibitions and practical information.
The second section, Education, provides details about our educational services. These include illustrated talks, workshops, lecture programmes, educational trips, adult education courses and services for schools.
The third section, Science, contains pages for each of our scientific departments: Botany, Zoology, Entomology, Mineralogy and Palaeontology. The information here is mainly intended for academic and research use, but we hope that it will also be interesting to a more general audience.
The fourth section, Information services, provides details of the Museum's libraries, as well as access to a number of the Museum's databases.
We also have those sections you'd expect to find in any web site: what's new, index. Please feel free to use the feedback section to offer comments and suggestions, and if there's anything you'd really like to see here, tell us about it. By filling in our comment form, you could win one year's free membership of the Museum.
At the bottom of this page you will find a number of green buttons. These can be found on nearly all our web pages, and provide a way for you to navigate quickly around our pages.
Our web site has been designed to be used with Netscape - with a colour monitor that supports 256 or more colours - although most of it should work with other browsers.
