Butterfly seasons - an exhibition of paintings by David Measures
The Natural History Museum 25 May-31 July 1996

Butterfly seasons, an exhibition of 38 paintings in oil and watercolour of British butterflies by David Measures, opens at The Natural History Museum on Saturday 25 May until Wednesday 31 July 1996.

When David Measures first began painting few British butterflies were recorded from life, and through his work he has pioneered the illustration of butterflies in their natural environment. In the tradition of a nineteenth-century artist and naturalist he also keeps detailed field diaries alongside his paintings.

The Natural History Museum is proud to acknowledge that Davids field notes, drawings and paintings have been donated and will become part of the Museum's Library collections.

A limited edition (signed by the author) of David Measures latest book, Butterfly Season 1984, published on 4 July 1996 will be available from The Natural History Museum's bookshop.
