Colours of Ashridge, an exhibition of paintings and collages on paper, canvas and silk, depicting aspects of Ashridge Forest, opens at the Walter Rothschild Zoological Museum, Tring on Sunday 26 May until Sunday 9 June 1996.
Local artist Sally Bassett from Aldbury near Tring, draws her inspiration for this exhibition from the National Trust woodlands at Ashridge. Often working on a single theme for an extended period, she explains, 'This allows me to explore and amplify certain aspects, the density of foliage for example'.
Works in oils, pastels and acrylics will be on display and Sally Bassett will be demonstrating her painting techniques at the Museum on Monday 27 May between 2.00 - 5.00 pm.
The Walter Rothschild Zoological Museum, Tring is part of The Natural History Museum, London. In addition to being a unique Victorian Zoological Museum, it houses the national collection of birds. As well as its own scientific staff, the Museum is visited by ornithologists from around the world, who use the unrivalled collections for their research.
