Teacher's support and group facilities

It pays to plan your visit and make full use of the services the Museum offers.

The Teacher's Centre

Are you planning to visit the Museum with your class? Need advice on using our exhibitions or on teaching earth and life sciences? Then our Teachers' Centre is the essential place for you. You'll find helpful staff and a useful reference library of teaching materials.

Opening times
Mon - Fri 11.30 - 14.00
Second and Third Sundays of the month: 13.00 - 16.30.

Teachers are advised to make a free preliminary visit to the Museum and the Teachers' Centre - just bring your union card or written confirmation from your school to gain free entrance. Call 0171-938 8744 for details.

Book your group's visit in advance

Pre-booked school and full-time student groups from the UK enjoy free admission. Other prebooked groups of 10 or more obtain reduced admission rates.

Pre-booking also includes the benefit of using our group reception and lunch facilities. For details ring our booking office: 0171-938 9090.

The Discovery Centre

Our Discovery Centre is an exploratory exhibition for 7-11 year-olds. Children with special needs are welcome. Trained staff help children enjoy natural objects and hands-on activities. Schools should arrange to use the facility by advance booking. Maximum 35 children per 45-minute session. To book a school visit, telephone 0171-938 9090. More information.
