Meet Mary Anning, Chat with Charles Darwin Join Jo Earthworks - someone who works and plays with rocks and minerals Scientist's corners Both Mary Anning, the fossil-finder from the past, and Charles Darwin will be roaming the galleries throughout the summer; telling stories about their famous discoveries and describing what it was like to be a scientist over a hundred and fifty years ago.
Watch out too for a multi-talented 'Jo' who will be wandering round the new Earth Galleries. Not just a geologist, but a miner, a jeweller and a rock climber too. Certainly well qualified to explain how rocks, minerals and gemstones are used by people at work and a play.

Join one of the Museum's 300 scientists for a chance to handle specimens and to find out more about a range topics including extinct giant mammals, butterflies and moths; and even how to search for gold.
They start at 12.00 and last approximately half an hour. No booking is required. Recommended for children aged between 7 and 11.
