The Museum uses its exhibitions, comprehensive collections and a team of experienced education staff to deliver a range of training courses for teachers. Courses contain up-to-date background information and a strongly practical component that will help teachers with various aspects of the National Curriculum. Development days can be tailored to suit the needs of staff.
The Museum has an INSET coordinator who will organise training for teachers. Courses are offered for teachers of pupils aged 4-18. The Department of Exhibitions and Education organises training on specific themes and for cross-curricular work.
All courses make use of the Museum's extensive natural history collections and well structured exhibitions. A strong emphasis is placed on developing practical activities that can be used in class or at the Museumm. All of these structured activities have been extensively trialled with students.
You can phone 0171 938 9138 to discuss your training needs and negotiate suitable dates for courses.
