1995 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
GRAND PRIX OF JAPAN -- SUZUKA, JAPAN
OCTOBER 27-29, 1995
Schumacher is on the pole position for the first time since the Grand Prix of
Canada, and ended David Coulthard's pole streak at four.
The Williams pair had a miserable Saturday, with Damon Hill back in fourth
and teammate Coulthard in sixth.
Jean Alesi had a great run, and though his time is 0.865s behind Schumacher,
it was still fast enough to earn the #2 spot outside Row 1. Berger was
satified to be less than 0.2s slower than his teammate, but will start fifth.
Mika Hakkinen (to correct what I said earlier), ran a new-spec Mercedes
engine to a third-quick time, while teammate Mark Blundell had another off
Saturday morning -- this time a big one -- and is reported to be done for the
weekend.
Aguri Suzuki is also out for the weekend after he crashed hard early in final
qualifying and is said to have broken a rib.
Expect the grid to be revised for Suzuki and Blundell....
